Tore would you post some more photos of your boat? I really like it. Especially if you have some of the helm, engine, and if you have any of it out of the water I'd like to see what she looks like under the waterline. Was that a comercially produced boat or custom built? How old is it?

Thumping? I never hear thumping on the boats I go on lol.....Only the engines, well on the ferries when we go oer another vessels wake theres a loud thump when the wave hits between the Pontoons

bigger boats and yachts dont do it and its harder to hear, small boats the keel is right under the floor... Its from hitting the waves you go in the air and smack the water coming back down, quite fun bouncing around

Ohhh I know what your talking about......Yea you dont hear that on the yacht...the engines sorta take that sound over lol We heardf on our old speedboat a bit, although it wasnt as bad as it hit the cabin more but when we went 80 mph you heard it a bit

On the little lakeboat you even see the floor push in a little bit lol

Yeah, You won't really hear thumping in a bigger, or, Heavy boat. Simply because the ballast is keeping you in the water, so you sit on the waves, rather than go up, then SLAP back down onto the next.

Also, How much a boat draws (Depth) can also be a factor, a boat that draws more water is generally heavier, and so, more boat is in the water. That way you have no slapping at all (Like Mary Elizabeth).

Whereas, take a boat like say, that's around a ton, maybe less, with not much depth, and a lot of speed - That's a boat that will slap around a bit. I can tell you that from a bit of experience between Forty Winks (The boat we have now) Compared to Mary. There's a big difference in a ton and 4.1 Tons.

our boat Lukka is about 4,5-5 tons heavym but she tumps a lot, but that's when she's planning(think that's how they say it in english)

It was fun on our old speedboat, the yacht doesnt really plain THe bow gets out of the water but I mean the stern and midship are still in but 28 knots on something that size is quite a bit

It varies I suppose, a boat with a deep vee hull and a high speed, e.g. a Flybridge cruiser may be capable of 30 Knots +, So it will plane on the water very well.

If you have a Semi Displacement Hull, then the hull will rise slightly on the plane, but not as much as say the Flybridge Cruiser ^^.

If you have a Displacement hull (Like Mary does), then you'll travel through the water, rather than on top of it. That, of course, will always make a boat slower, However, they'll always be good seaboats. And you won't be tossed about as violently

Lol, one time we were going 60 MPH, with most of the diving deck under water, and the plugs on the pumps (that I put in for the first time) came blowing out, the engine compartment blew upward, and we stopped so fast, the wake came up and over the entire boat.

F.Y.I. docking a jet boat in high winds/waves is hard! We had to get someone to come out to the dock and throw them ropes, neither me or my uncle could get the boat on the lift because we where moving sideways so fast, and you can't use allot of throttle at the dock because the pumps will suck sand up.
