Sometimes you do hear it on bigger boats when in rough wheather. I was in a force 5 with gusts of 30knots in a 37ft boat. Oh and I'm back for those of you who know me.

60? my boat only hits 40mph but its not a jetboat either ::)

The Speed-o-meter on my boat with an upgraded engine goes up to 80Mph.  I know that you can do about that but I have not because out lake has a speed limit of 45.

45 MPH in a small boat is pretty fast anyway.

My boat goes a staggering 6mph in a moderate wind... Might even go faster if I knew how to sail it properly.

My last one (the one in the "2 hours on the Solent" videos on YouTube) would do about 60 Kts (65+ mph), but it was starting to snake at that point. At that speed, even small waves would cause it to leap from crest to crest, bone-jarringly!

The current boat (a 36 foot Sunseeker Gin Palace job) does a more sedate 45 Kts (50+ mph). It weighs several tons and does not leap the waves. It slides through them quite happily, so the drinks don't get spilled.

Been out in it in some fairly horrifying weather, rescuing some people off the Mixon rocks near Selsey. It was not a bad ride, even with 10-15ft waves around us. Didn't spill a drop!

The speedometer on my uncles boat goes to 80 I think, but at full throttle for 2-3 minutes it only gets up to 60-65 MPH. It has two Yamaha High Output engines.

My dads a captain, well hehe he may be a captain but he tends to attack smaller boats, we flipped a kayaker once :P We were doing 28 knots on the yacht with a huge ginormous wake, we flipped a kayaker caused a jetskier to fall off and scared the crap out of a fisherman  ::) Good Times indeed

Well we almost flipped a 20 foot fishing boat hahhahaha See what happenes when you get a big boat with a big wake and a crazy captain...FUN

OH I found out a little more about the boat, Its like a Cris Craft and it has 2 250 horsepower engines I think, and a generator, doesnt work, but that would be the first thing we fix but he just redid all of the plumming, gauges, a new radar, and rebuilt the engines and its a 1975 I think but my dad says it rins great, (Its a Friend of ours) And their moving, but since its so old nobody really wants it but we know how much work they did to it and that its in perfect codition, so either we buy it or they donate it so things are looking good ;D

I love taking the boat to about 40MPH and turning hard, feels like your either going in the water, or flying in the air.

Yea, well thats the thing with boating, like the yacht many people have the oopen upper flybridge for 2 reasons, they like being outside, and its cheaper, my dad had the option when the owner was building the yacht to get wither a Command Bridge or outside, he chose command bridge, So if your running inthe winter time you an have heat and be comfortable, and when theres waves when our in the ocean and the splash doesnt come towhere you are, because he has video of rough seas and the windows being pummeled with water
