Yes that would be great!

As some of you may have seen I am going on holiday for one week, so I won't be able to do anything for this project.

Hi all,

after a long time I am back with some UPDATES to let you see that the project is still alive. I also hope that I can motivate you with this pictures to continue working on the forum environment project  ;)

So here are some fresh renders.

TFM's Marina has been textured and placed in the city (I know that the scaling of the trees and buildings needs to be fixed, I only put them there to make it look a bit better.)

The St. Mark's Basilica, the most famous church in Venice.

And finally a progress shot of my latest model, the mainland and some other islands surrounding the city.

I hope you like the pictures

Thanks, TFM

I really hope to get more people for this project since so many small details are still missing.

We need everyone for this project

The main "problem" are the small repeatable buildings. But we can also need some simple marker poles, repeatable bridges, some small docks and piers and at least one repeatable church.
This list will get longer as soon as I notice some things.  :)
If you notice anything that you would like to add I will take a look at it.

Well what sort of buildings are you looking for for the repeatable ones?

The model itself shouldn't be very detailed and isn't that hard to do but it would be nice if you coould do the texture map to.
You don't need to map it on the model just create the model(less than 300 poly) and the texture map(256x256).

For the textures I will upload some typical Venetian windows, doors and at cg textures you can find textures for the color of the backround. (cgtextures>plaster>plaster coloured)

Yes that's true they aren't hard to model, but we need a lot of them. I will post that texture things a bit later, but you will get them as soon as possible.

I got another update: all large and famous buildings have been added to the St Mark's Square:

The ground texture is only there to give you a better contrast and I will replace it with a better, when I find one.

I got the first texture pack for the repeatable buildigs - some typical Venetian windows. The scaling of the windows is not the same for all, you will have to correct it here and there. You can edit them if you want but only use them for the forum environment project and not for any other models. You can find most of the other parts for your texture at www.cgtextures.com.

I hope you can use these texture parts to create a lot of different building textures.

Yes you could try to model some low poly repeatable buildings like the ones I attached and if it is possible it would be very nice if you texture them with a 256x256 texture map, if not it's no problem. When you create such a building don't do to much details - do a few cubes with a roof an it, probably a balcony but windows and doors don't need to be modelled all that you can get with a nice texture.

It would be great if you could do one or more models for this project

Hi dexter7,

You can get the textures from google earth by clicking on the house button in the material window (fig.1). Then click right on the texture part you want to save. After this select export texture and save it as .jpg (fig.2).

When you got all textures you need put them on a 256x256 textre sheet and attach them to your post in the files topic.

Joey

PS: The model is not made by me, I just took it from the warehouse.
