I  much prefer docking, tugging, ferries, hovercraft, and ocean going vessels. I don't really care for boat racing and stunts. The crane would be nice, if the views could be improved. I can't figure out where the container is, in relation to my viewpoint. I also strongly dislike missions like "At work on the Atlantic" with mysterious and invisible waypoints. Please save them for the "Secret Agent" add-on

Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here:
The weather interaction is a factor that's not presently today into this game (ss08) the weather interactions would increase the quality of the game plus chances for the players to have in hands a simulator closer to the real ship simulators used nowadays by the greate maritime schools.
The weather interaction that must act into the game are:
Wind (pushing the vessel, ex: wind by stern will push the vessel ahead and if acting from the port lee will turn the ship's stern to starboard conpensations must be taken during handling. Wind attacking the vessel from forward will reduce the vessel speed (depending of the wind force plus RPM of vessel's engine the speed will decrease fast, also the stearing can be affected due to different angle of wind attacking the vessel's hull and also cargoes on deck.

Water interaction shallow waters: low keel clearance force the vessel to increase the engine forces. When passing close to sand banks of sloop and or teep banks the bow cushion effect is pronounced.
Also the water/channel/river current afects the vessels handling performancies.
When leaving a close channel bar with current of low water coming together with the vessel it's made a bit hard to turn the vessel and or to stop and even decrease the vessels speed.

Virtual mass: due to the skin friction of the vessels hull, rudder and propeller a significant mass of water is moved together with the vessel. This is called virtual mass. this mass of water start from the vessels bow and extend up to some meters behing the vessel's stern, this mass is well observed at the vessel's stern and it's comom called by the fishing mans as deadwater. When trying to stop the vessel this mass reaming behind the stern will reach the vessel attacking the hull and push the vessel forward the angle of water attack are in different angle and the force point of interaction is hard to be predicted at the most of times.

With those weather interaction the SS will have a great quality what will foccus the attention of many more users and schools as well.
The chance to have such game closer to the real situation in my opnion is something what everyone wants.

Unfortunately for VSTEP the weather interaction still something hard to be done but not impossible!

Cheers
Tavares ;)

I've noticed that a lot of ss2008 players are also into flight simulators or other sims. There seems to be a big desire to be able to incorperate ships into the sim yourself. In my opinion this is what makes flight sims like FSX a succes. A better multiplayer  like  FSX used

Which is more appealing to you in Ship Simulator, the technical simulator aspects (such as docking, tugging, crane operations, etc.) or the fast, speedy arcade style of playing (such as races, ramping, and such):
Technical Simulator Aspects

Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here:
On the big Ships like the Cruise ones, The Bridges could be modelled with more Details and Accuracy (It's good but it lacks the "Finetuning" of Details like say the Cockpits in Flightsimulator)
