Country: Austria

City & State/Province: Innsbruck/Tirol

Age: 61

Sex: male

Top 3 Other Games You Current Play:
1.
2.
3.

Other Simulators You Enjoy (If not in the 3 above):
1.  Flight Sim (MS X)
2.  Air Traffic  Control
3.  Chess

Closest major port: Venice and Genua (Italy)

Desired port locations (limit to 3 choices):
1.
2.
3.

Desired vessels/vessel types to be seen in upcoming Ship Simulator versions (limit to 3 choices):
1. Something like a "Peniche" as on french rivers
2.
3.

Where did you purchase your copy of Ship Simulator (Name of Business - City, State/Province - Country): Innsbruck/Tirol - Austria

On a scale from 1-5, how would you rate Ship Simulator currently: For the "play alone" parts of the sim my heart would give a "1", but to encourage you for a "better future-version" I´ll give a 2. (So I hope, to encourage you and the "diffeence between  the "future-" and the actual version will be as "great" as between the first und the actual one.   (But  I´m sorry to give a 3/4 for the internet-gaming part of this sim, because of a lot of frustrating bugs - ships that can´t be seen by me or others, ships that fly (!) around your head, or make you sink by colliding with "anything", that suddenly seems to be "wthin" your Vermaas (for instance), or be hit from a ship, whose captain swears he is "miles away" and doesn´t even see you), or to be "thrown out" of the game because of "inactivity". But if it "will work" normally, I enjoy it, to be in contact with most all of the "captains" I met and who helped me to understand (a little bit) what it feels like, to handle with a heavy ship (in my preferred case -the Vermaas) entering a port.

Which is more appealing to you in Ship Simulator, the technical simulator aspects (such as docking, tugging, crane operations, etc.) or the fast, speedy arcade style of playing (such as races, ramping, and such): I prefer anything (semi)professional that comes close to reality as possible (I know, that there is a professional version, but, its too expensive for me at the moment.

Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here: Normally I prefer the handling of the "Heavies", but I also would enjoy to navigate on a small channel/river with a commercial  "Peniche" or a "Penichette"-houseboat (on a busy) small channel/river (in french) landscape with some loclks and small ports along my way.

Which is more appealing to you in Ship Simulator, the technical simulator aspects (such as docking, tugging, crane operations, etc.) or the fast, speedy arcade style of playing (such as races, ramping, and such):

TECHNICAL SIMULATION, NOT ARCADE.

Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here:

#1 Need more technical systems on bridges of ships. Radar, Electrical, Communications..too arcade like now.

#2 Need actual cruising area, not just harbors!  Model the Caribbean or Greek Islands. Give us somewhere to
    go in real time.

#3 Open up this sim to the community with an SDK. It needs outside help with development
to make it truly GREAT. VSTEP should develop the framework with each release and the tools and
let the community improve the simulator. (Like Flight Simulator)

It could be truly great but it is constrained by a small staff of developers and budget.

Make it great guys!

Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here:
First off, NO MORE TUG BOATS PLEASE.  How many do we need anyway?  I would like to see more small to medium "civilian" vessels along the lines of the yachts and fishing boats.

Also, please take a closer look at the existing boats: most of them are bugged in some way or another.
Broken graphics can be found on: classic yacht, russian tug, pilot, pride of rotterdam to name a few.
Many of the ships lack a speed diplay in the cockpit/bridge, such as the P6, speedboat, pilot, rescue boat to name a few.
Water spray is going THROUGH the hull of the speed yacht.  You can fall though the deck of the big cruiser.  You can walk off the deck of the new cargo ship and stand on the water.  The rescue boat does not move straight even with no waves and no wind.  The North Star has a horizontal thruster but no control for it on the bridge, nor does it have proper windows.  The classic yacht, which should have only 1 engine, has 2 running.
These are ALL very small and easy-to-fix bugs.  Before making more boats, please get the ones we have now working correctly.

PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THE QUESTIONS INTO YOUR REPLY:

Country:Canada

City & State/Province:Waterloo Ontario

Age:40

Sex:M

Top 3 Other Games You Current Play:
1. rFactor (auto racing simulator)
2. Battlefield 2
3.

Other Simulators You Enjoy (If not in the 3 above):
1.
2.
3.

Closest major port:Not sure if it is consider a major port but Toronto would be closest.

Desired port locations (limit to 3 choices):
1. Detroit
2. Miami
3. China

Desired vessels/vessel types to be seen in upcoming Ship Simulator versions (limit to 3 choices):
1. Hydroplanes, etc (see 'more appealing' below)
2. Ice breaker (with appropriate 'map' or appropriate weather settings...rescuing smaller vessels trapped in ice...making a path for larger vessels, etc)
3. Luxury Yacht (30-40 metres)

Where did you purchase your copy of Ship Simulator (Name of Business - City, State/Province - Country):EB Games, Kitchener Ontario-Canada

On a scale from 1-5, how would you rate Ship Simulator currently:3.8

Which is more appealing to you in Ship Simulator, the technical simulator aspects (such as docking, tugging, crane operations, etc.) or the fast, speedy arcade style of playing (such as races, ramping, and such): Both more or less equally however I would prefer to simulate the powerboat racing we see in real life as opposed to the ramping and such.  Off shore powerboat and hydroplane races with an online dedicated racing server with proper courses and proper timing.

Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here:
Please model a person 'at the helm' in all boat models...jet ski has a rider but all other vessels are ghost ships.  Bigger waves available in ports...maybe not 4 m swells but a bit rougher would be nice and could make in port missions more difficult not always having almost perfect conditions.

I almost balked at buying this...$40 plus tax...not sure if I was going to be into it but am glad I did now.  Cool to see busy forums etc etc too.  Cheers!
