It's okay with the lifeboat numbers: the Orient Star has 18 of lifeboat No. 2

the big door at the stern and the one crossing the red part of the hull are Marina doors. there would be bunch of jetski's and motorboats behind it.

the exterior part of the restaurant WIP

what is that? doorways?

well, why not, let's make those decks walkable aswell

this staircase would have been placed anyway, as it connects the bridge directly to the main deck:

also bulkead frames added:

thanks!
i do want to become a naval architect, that's why im following an education on the STC in rotterdam right now. learning all kinds of stuff involved at building a new ocean liner.

i thought the deck looked a little empty, so i added some deckchairs, tables and other details:

tables are exteme low poly just like the deckchairs, i had to keep the polycount low as there are hundreds of these onboard the ship.

i felt like i was playing cruise ship tycoon at this part.

How many polys do you have left?

At the being of this thread you were making the engine room. Is that going to be included? (I will be surprised if it is)

i don't think there's enough poly's and textures left for the engine room im affraid. the max. polycount the ship may have is ~300.000 polygons, im currently on 113.867 polygons, and that's including the dummy lifeboats aswell.

Only 113,867!!  Wow! I expected 200,000. You might have enough for an engine room!

Rob,

One word of advice for this ship if you're considering adding an engine room...

The most time spent on a ship when playing ship sim is the bridge, so when you're going to create the bridge, make it a little higher poly, as this is the most important section.

Looking fantastic though! :)

Hello all!

WOW, as ussualy, i'm impresed!

I haven't expected more walkable space, and that what you create in these very short time, is amazing, these is so good... imagine the look on the open sea, or on the beautiful cruise ports like Bora Bora, from the deckchair below the bridge!

Very, very nice! You hit the real target, that is the real design of the cruise ship, and you made it perfect!! So as ussualy, perfect job.

And don't vorey, if you continue like these, i'm seeing you in the magazine "cruise times" and it says ( the best naval architecht in the world ), and you will probably made some designes for the new largest ship of the world fro Royal Caribbean.

Well done! Keep going!

And one suggestions if you will be able to accept it, and if you will have enough polygons.

If you are for it, that is what i think can make these ship so wonderful, and fancy.  ;)

A jacuzzi or two ( or small swiming pool ) in front!

Example:

On Disney Magic ( click on the picture for larger ):

On Seabourn Legend:

On your ship:

Well, that is just my suggestion, if you are able to include that or if you want, i think it will be very nice.
It's on you to decide.

Keep going.

Many kind regards.
Capt. Mitch

Indeed, unless you have a working lift, I dont really fancy going ALL the way down to the engine room!!
Not very interesting, I will always be on the bridge.

Well, it would be nice to have an engine room, it is not so important, but it can be used to pretend something is wroing with engines on missions and other...

I also spent almost all the time on the bridge of the Orient Star, but when i'm in the port, i'm pretending like it is a real cruise so i always stay for at least 30 minutes walking on the boat decks...

In that time i like to explore the boat, and walk all around, because of these i like these model so much, it never ends, a 400 meter ships, with full sun deck, boat deck, interior rooms, front part and all other parts...

I'l never end with my exploration, it will be so intersting to walk all around these huge ship.

These 30 minutes in the port, will pass faster than ever!

Many kind regards.

With regards to the Jazcuzzi,

I wouldn't recommend putting them on the bow, because this is probably the only part of the ship that will move around the most. The rise and fall of the bow on the open sea will mean there won't be any water (or people!) left in the tubs.

Of course if they're off limits while the ship is moving that's not as bad. ;)

Well, these jacuzzies are for crew accutaly, these is the crew area on the ship, where they can relax if they have time.

So these jacuzzies are used by the proffesionals ( at least i heard like that on the Cruise Ship Diaries ).

That maight be dangerous... but at least 50 % of cruise ships do have the jaccuzies like that ???

I really don't know how they handle the problems you sayed...  ???

Kind regards.

I think quite a few cruise ships as Mitch showed have this feature for crew, I know that the P&O Aurora has a medium sized pool on the bow, I guess they just close it off in bad weather as you said. :)
