hmm, the original hull model is too messed up to fit the interior in that easy, so i am going to redo the hull now.

thanks!
this morning i finished the Hull texture, and the Hull logo's aswell.

nameplates added:

Plimsoll mark and Tug markings added:

the symbols on the plimsoll mark mean the following:
L R - Loyds Register (the classification bureau the ship is on)
WNA - Winter north atlantic
FW - Fresh water (no salt)
W - Water

it indicates how deep the ship may be in certain waters.

also Bowtruster logo's, Bulb Logo and depth indicator added.

I have to confess, I don't think I have ever actually posted here before...  :o

I do apologise about that Mr Robville.

Anyway may I say this is a really impressive model

How do you get the textures so realistic? When I try they always come out fuzzy, yet yours are perfect.

Any way, great model, well done

i was planning to add 40, but to save polygons i lowered it to 4 bowthrusters  ;)

i used alpha maps for the symbols on the hull, if i would use the hull texture for this task, it would be only a few blurred pixels.

i have done some work on the boatdeck now.
this time i have added some deckchairs:

the davits have been added with dummy lifeboats, because as i remember, Vstep has a stock model for that.
i used the davits from my poseidon model and did a huge optimizing job. i got rid of all the unnecesairy details.
also the deckchairs are lowpoly and contain only 9 polygons each chair.

this is the entrance to the cabin:

You'd think someone with this kinda talent would mess up something so trivial?  ;)

Re: Fictional Oceanliner MS Oceana - Boatdeck finished
« Reply #324 on: October 16, 2010, 15:41:14 »

great news!, the last bit of the boatdeck is finished,
details such as decklights, ashtrays/bins, lifeboat signs, vents, security camera's and emergency equipment are added:

i am still trying to make a nice render with proper lightning, but without vray it is a massive task of placing all the lights correct. and my laptop which has vray installed is low on battery and i left the cable in rotterdam  :'(

the reason why all lifeboat signs indicate number 16 is because i don't have the room inside the texture for adding all numbers.

i payed a lot of attention to each object so that it's correctly placed and not sticking through other objects or it would be placed real unlogic (for exaple one of the decklights right in front of a camera) this brings a lot more realism to the ship, as i saw quite a few of these glitches inside extising SSE vessels.
