Hello all
Sorry for this post
i know my home port is not in the poll
but i would love to see my home port of curacao in SSE
(repeat)

It's natural and very deep
entrance depth of the port is 254 meters, And the depth inside is between 60 and 100 meters
Allot of ships are capable of entering the port
But any ship higher then 52 meters cannot due to the juliana bridge wich is 55 meters high above sea level

Also we get allot of rare ship visitors
Most of them are cable layers, VLCC's, Or Warships
Big ship like 200 meter giant's are not allowed to go faster then 6 knots in the entrance or inside the port
Ships smaller then 200 meters have a max speed of 10 knots, Also tanker's and ships that do not manuaver easy must use tug's to enter this port
As for cruise ships more inside the port our outside at the pier

In the entrance the port has a pontoon bridge called "Emma Bridge"
she was build in 1888, she takes 5 minutes to open and close
My question " is ther any port in the world that has a pontoon bridge that can open?"

Please have a look at these foto's and get your impression :)

opinions are surely wanted ;)
Kind Regards

Sorry oceandream we already decided which port we will model (Venice in Italy)

But that is a really nice port and if this project is successful there will probably a sequel.  ;)

I have also good news.

Started to model the main mesh of the environment. It's a bit difficult to do because of all the small canals.

Here you have a pic.

PS: I will create a new topic for all the files of the environment. So that everybody can go on with the modelling, if someting bad happens to me.  ;)

Now you can post all files in the files topic

This are the rules:

Please upload the 3D files in Collada (.dae) format which can be easily exported for Google SketchUp or the most other 3D programs. For textures we will use JPEG (.jpg) first and in the end phase we will convert it to .dds!

Do not post anything else than your model and/or texture in this topic!

When you upload your model please put in here a screenshot or render, a short description and of course the model itself!

Kind Regards,
Joey

mm this would be easier if I was remotely familiar with Venice

And the ferry berths are just concrete, so can't do them...

Hmm any suggestions for what I can do?

you could make bridges that connect on the canal.
you could type that in google and you will get lots of images you could use.. because your good at railings so bridges would be fine..

Another thing you could do is go to Venice in Google Earth and look around for anything that might look easy to you

To get an overview of Venice I would suggest to look at it in Google Earth and don't forget to turn the 3d buildings on - the whole city is in 3d.

Then I would suggest a big building for you like the St Mark's Campanile

Even the POR has seen it  ;D

If you would like to do a bridge, why not the most famous in Venice the Rialto Bridge

hmm shouldnt we let TFM start off with a simpler bridge so he kind of knows how to mkae other bridges

Edificio in Venezia, Italia bridge is quite easy

Or any other bridges because the bridge you showed is one of the hardest so let TFM start with an easier one

That's a very cool tool

If you need some textures I will post some pictures but you have to edit them yourself.

If I remember correctly, doesn't the new version of Building Maker use the textures from Google Earth?
