We have a small poly problem (about 40.000 over the limit), but I think we can easily solve it by replacing the railing (is it also called railing on a bridge? but I think you know what I mean).

I will take a look at the problem.  ;)

And here the once more updated list:

*Main model (all the small islands, without buildings, bridges etc.)
*St Mark’s Campanile
*St Mark’s Basilica
*Rialto Bridge
*San Giorgio Maggiore (Whole Island)
*Cruise terminal
*Port buildings (depots, ferry terminal)
*Doge's Palace
*Bridge of Sighs
*Piazza San Marco
*Venetian Arsenal
*Repeatable buildings (done 7 / to do approx. 20-40)
*Repeatable bridges (done 0 / to do approx. 20)
*Other bridges (done 1 / to do ?)
*Trees
*Vaporetto stop
*Small marinas
*Other bell towers (done 1 / to do max. 5)
*Santa Maria della Salute (church)

green = done
blue = work in progress
red = to do

I covered it because all faces were not 3d and so I decided to cover it with this plastic. If you don't like it I can change it but I think it is okay since it would loo boring if it is all made out of wood.

There were not many updates the last days because I was busy with school. Anyhow here is a quite big update:
I finished the main model of the city today, that model are over 100 single islands  :o

I hope you like it.

And I would be very nice if someone else would help to model new parts for the environment. Here is the list with the high priority parts:

*Main model (all the small islands, without buildings, bridges etc.)
*St Mark’s Campanile
*St Mark’s Basilica
*Rialto Bridge
*San Giorgio Maggiore (Whole Island)
*Cruise terminal
*Port buildings (depots, ferry terminal)
*Doge's Palace
*Bridge of Sighs
*Piazza San Marco
*Venetian Arsenal
*Repeatable buildings (done 7 / to do approx. 20-40)
*Repeatable bridges (done 0 / to do approx. 20)
*Other bridges (done 1 / to do ?)
*Trees
*Vaporetto stop
*Small marinas
*Other bell towers (done 1 / to do max. 5)
*Santa Maria della Salute (church)

green = done
blue = work in progress
red = to do

Here is a pic of the main model:

This project looks very interesting.  I guess that I will give it a go... at least for a little while.  Tell me what I need to make and I will do it.  A picture of what I am making would also be nice...

Hi billybob1417,

great that you are interested in this project and it's even better that you want to help us. I would suggest that you first choose something from the list in the above post and then I can give you detailed instructions how to do.

In the beginning I wouldn't choose too difficult models, but if you want you can also do the harder ones.  ;)

I hope this helps you and if you have any questiones feel free to ask them.

Kind Regards,

Joey

OK sounds good.

Here is my suggestion the Doge's Palace - it's a very famous and big building which is next to the St Mark’s Basilica.
I attached two pictures of it one that I took and one from google earth. To see more details of the building you can google it or go to google earth there you can see it as 3d building.

The rules for modelling are: not more than 2000 polygons for the whole building, so don't make it too detailed.
And if you want to texture it you have to use a 512x512 pixel texture map, if you don't want to do it, I will texture it.

I think it would be the best to show some screenshots of your model before you upload it.
Please let me know if it is okay so, to avoid complications.
