Very nice  :)

This are the rules for uploading in the  files topic  (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,24156.0.html)

In this topic you can upload all the files of the project. So everybody who wants to help us with the project can look at all our files here. If someone loses interest or doesn’t have enough time to go on with his model, he can upload it here and can say that someone else should finish it.

But please ask what type of model is needed before you post everything here. The discussion topic is
here (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,24027.0.html).

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Please upload the 3D files in Collada (.dae) format which can be easily exported for Google SketchUp or the most other 3D programs. For textures we will use JPEG (.jpg) first and in the end phase we will convert it to .dds!

Do not post anything else than your model and/or texture in this topic!

When you upload your model please put in here a screenshot or render, a short description and of course the model itself!

If you have any questions please ask them in the discussion topic (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,24027.0.html)!

Kind Regards,
Joey

How big is your file, the forums max size is 2048 KB. If it's bigger you can zip it.
If this isn't the solution you could pm Mad_Fred or any other mod about the problem, maybe the know what you can do.

On Win 7 you have to click on the file with the right mouse button and then there should come something like zip, send as zip (I don't know what exactly stands there in English or any other language because I have the german version of Windows.)
I also don't know how it's in the older versions of Windows, but it should be similar.

I think that the upload limit is about 2mb or so. 9.8mb is way over that limit.

Sketchup is a nice 3d modelling tool for the purposes of google but when I want to import it into another 3d modelling software, or make it suitable for a computer game it can be really annoying.

Here you can see what I mean. I just wanted to take a look at Mslb_Eemshoorn's Bugattí and you can see what I got as result in the attachment. The ship looked so nice in SU but you can't work properly with this type of model.
And since sketchup produces a lot of unnecasery polys the model got a poly count of 900 (you have to know that I already had removed some poly heavy parts before).

@Mslb_Eemshoorn   you should redo that model it looks really great and please don't understand this wrong. You are not a bad modeller, but I think I would take less time to redo some parts of it from new than spend hours on modyfying all the small things. I would also suggest to remove the rounded parts which will be under the water surface in the game, since you won't see them at all.

Please don't get too much dissapointed by this as I already said your model is great an we need anything we get but I have to ensure that the models can be used in game.

Kind Regards

Joey

Yes your model is too deatailed. I think the lots of polys come from the many rounded things on the boat. I'm not the best at modelling hulls but you can take a look at mr robville's boat for Venice in the files topic.
Althrough the fact is that a already modyfied version of the boat has 600 polys over the limit.

Downloaded it and it still had over 100.000 polys so I nearly worked the whole day and modified it. Now I got it down to 299 triangles which is under the 300 limit  ;D
