Developer Diaries Discussion
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:37:29 »

What do you think about the developer diaries idea? Anything you really liked in them?

I think it's a great idea to keep us interested in the game, it definately made me laugh a lot!
And Im going to be really interested to see what the other ones are like  ;D

Once again thanks VSTEP  :)  Good job.

Edit: In case you wonder, you can read the diaries in this thread!

It's nice to see that the developers have tried to put some more interest in the community now - and it is well received for sure. However, I wouldn't necessarily think this as a diary as such.

Might be nice if VSTEP put a bit more 'behind the scenes' in it. Tell what is has been like to develop the game, where you had some problems with the new waves system for example?

How about telling us about something like the hardware or software you use? What your offices are like - do you posses a fan ;D

Perhaps, but this is not about the developer diaries is it? It's turning into a debate about coffee ;D

no, we just want to know what coffee Frank has...

It would be interesting to see some pics from  the development... DC(ITSE) as a wireframe?

Those players who have the Collectors Edition of SS2008 (English version) have a very good video presentation which shows the VStep office and staff at work. It also shows some of the development work on SSExtremes. Attached is a picture of Calais from Nautis. It shows that POR can manage quite nicely if the loading ramp is lowered to the correct level. :-* I would think that the port will be very similar in SSExtremes.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I'm not a regular coffee junk.
I drink it, though only occassionally.

Suggestion is welcome though, I will add a pic of the office with a next development diary.  ;)
And for a real-time visualisation of the office and a sneek peak at (very early) Extremes work, check Traddles suggestion above...

You can lower the loading ramp?

This was meant as a theoretical idea. I have no idea as to whether this IS possible. Imagination is part of the game very often. ::) It is obvious that the ramps are adjustable in reality to allow for  the rise and fall of the tide and the differing levels of the loading gates on the ferries.

Hi Frank,

I meant I only have the standard version of Ship Simulator. I did not purchase the download or boxed version of the collectors edition as I already had paid for the game.
