I think it's the unofficial font of simulation...

What font is it?

For example, I used to use arial bold for my company- and it is the same as my two main rivals; not deliberate, it's just a common font. Then I asked an artist to design me a brand new font.

That isn't sarcasm. It is a figure of speech or it is exaggeration. But it isn't sarcasm.

Never mind, I think we all know what you mean.

Wait a second, before we even discuss asking your parents for the game, we don't even know what kind of PC you have, for all we know, your PC can't handle the game.

Yeah, it'll be something like this with ships sailing the world in one Google Earth environment.  :P

As Firestar mentioned after my first post, VStep doesn't care about eyecandy , it just strives for accuracy. So whether they use Google Earth or graphics from a Commodore 64, as long as the dynamics are perfect, who cares, right ?!! He also said user preference is not important with SS, so VStep could care less about what their customers want.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want an arcade game. I'm only asking for a realistic simulator with the ability to modify .tga or .dds files so I can paint ships in my own colors or design new menu screens and menu music. I have a submarine simulator called Silent Hunter 3 that has all those qualities, and some of the community modders are more talented than the Dev Team that created the game. I can also care less if Microsoft, Ubisoft, Activision, or Zynga build the game, just as long as they give the customer what they want.

Sorry for opening this can of worms, I was unaware this was a no frills simulator

Tuddley, give your brain cells a chance, will you? No one said it is a 'no frills simulator'.

It is a compromise between an 'arcade game' and a simulator. It has been said, many, many times before that there IS a FULLY functioning simulator available in which you can change pretty much whatever you want. But ye not be surprsied to learn that it costs considerably more than the boxed game.

Incidentally, corrrect me if I'm wrong, but Ubisoft and Activision are only publishers and not developers. If you were to even start with the basics then you could construct a valid arguement.

Compliments of the season

I wonder if MSS 2010 will be more modder friendly like FSX or one of my favorite sims Silent Hunter III ? Some of the paint textures make me want to puke in 2008 with that horrible lime green. I would like to be able to make my own repaints or modify the menu screens, music, and widgets.

Oh dear...  ::)

It IS a somehow realistic simulator - Pride of Rotterdam has the colours of a real ship, same goes for Red Funnel's ships, Arie Visser, Fairmount Sherpa, Bugsier 2, Titanic, Jumbo...    Real companies gave permission to use their ships in game in the way they look in real life.
Painting those ships in pink or in whatever colours pops up on the mind will turn this into another "realistic simulator", aka Virtual Skipper.

Besides, VS will be more modder-friendly for you if you're looking for something you can modify in it.

Well, you can also puke by seeing the real ship:

Hasn't that bow been pinched from the Scottish Viking/Seafrance Rodin?

Not the Viking, but she is a distant cousin to the Rodin...

Okay, not that distant

The font for the Microsoft logo is custom made (I have it), I don't know about the FS font.

I just think the Sherpa is ugly as sin, and it's embarrassing to pilot. If I could photoshop it, I would change the green to black and the blue to yellow/gold, or maybe the green to fire engine red and the blue to black. If it makes them happy, I won't change any logos or company names if I decide to share it with the community.

Well you might be interested in the creators forum then...
http://217.45.209.217/cgi-bin/creators/entry.pl

lots of missions and repaints (although they are for the P6 patrol boat)

To be honest I'm happy with the appearance of most of the boats, but I have downloaded pretty much every skin for the P6...
