Such loading is because:

that's a catamaran ferry, what else to say!
there were no available ferries at that day...
the trip was very cheap at that day.
of way too many cars than the captain expected.
the captain weren't aware of the kind of cargo at all!
they're trying to achieve the most ridiculous car loading on the ship to be in the Guinness World Records book.
of some insane...
I have no idea about this yet!
captain was very kind after the pint...

Huh? hes like the CEO
And like, I have a CEO of my company, but like, he doesn't own it.

What is wrong with them?
Less seats, smelly toilet, small carriages, seats don't line up to the windows, cold aircon- never heating(very nice in summer though!!!) there is a noisy alarm every 10 mins (psgr alarm in toilet being turned on by mistake?) Biggest problems are the chemical toilets and the lack of seats- don't forget that for those people who are forced to travel second class (ruffians) that half the train is devoted to those of us stupid enough to pay first class fares with half a carriage each.

Do you travel on them at all- I know they don't come to your part of the Country. They are very popular and most people prefer them, but I just don't like the smell; it reminds me of my old school.

I think you said you live in Dover???

It's faster to London on the National Express 020/021 than the train.

You, err..., prefer to be a local lad then. Well, Kent IS a nice county, I have to say that... But it doesn't hurt to broaden your horizons and visit other counties in England. Maybe even go to that place over the water!

You are lucky, BTW, I love Dover. I know a good little pub in Dover (and some bad ones too!)

Portsmouth is another great place. Not keen on Southampton though.

Dover is so nice that it would be great to see it in SSE (along with Calais, in one environment).
