Such loading is because:

that's a catamaran ferry, what else to say!
there were no available ferries at that day...
the trip was very cheap at that day.
of way too many cars than the captain expected.
the captain weren't aware of the kind of cargo at all!
they're trying to achieve the most ridiculous car loading on the ship to be in the Guinness World Records book.
of some insane...
I have no idea about this yet!
captain was very kind after the pint...

Really Guys!

I guess really big snowplows are pretty common place here in New England, I've seen even larger ones than this!

Also pretty common around here is the even more massive "Rotary Snowplow"

We had a thing here called a snow blower (and no, I'm not referring to any actor/popstar/politician...) but British Rail (as was) said we had "the wrong kind of snow [for it]"... Which spurred a whole generation of dodgy excuses for basically being incompetent at any one thing.

Regarding the first post in this topic, here's a recent photo from Shipspotting.
At least the captain allowed few cars (more likely to be his) to be loaded on the superstructure.

And it looks like her original Port of Registry at the stern has been replaced by a temporary sign (hanging from the stern bulwark) showing her new Port of Registry......is this vessel even legit?

We sailed awhile with the new name painted on a plank, because we couldnt put the new name on it yet. Nobody cared about it.

This is a new build from Slovenske Komarno - the wheelhouse cannot be fitted until it passes the last of the low bridges on the river. The vessel will probably be German registered but has the temporary POR of Bratislava for the voyage down the river.

I was thinking for a while but still no idea - why those funnels are so big on these ships?   What kind of big thing can be inside of them?  ???

Could be that the shipowner had a couple of pints with the shipbuilder while discussing that tug project?

Multiple exhausts, air intakes, air con vents, escape stairwell for engine room?

Most ships have funnels bigger than they really need- but it just makes them look good. apparently.

In the base of PO Bilbao funnel, the engineers have a small workshop/storage area

Here is a new design for PCTC's, made by Kyokuyo Shipyard, Japan, for Nissan. The two ships are due to deleivery later this year and beginning of 2011. Forget the old, boxy design..

Looks like a new wheelhouse was built on top of the old one. Perhaps for better visibility?
