Something you don´t see everyday a 14 metre long whale (dead) that the KNRM was trying to beach, the whale was found in the noon by a fisherman, because the whale was floating in the middle of a fairway she had to be moved, after some hours behind the SAR vessel De Redder the plan was made to beach the whale North of Scheveningen

A rope was attached to the whale to pull her on the beach but the beach truck did not have enough power, at the moment they are trying to pull her on the beach with bulldozers

Even the KNRM can have some difficulties (beaching)

Interesting to see how they deal with a whale - do they normally beach it?

I think it depends where she is located, like now she was in the Northsea one of the busiest fairways in the world, so I think this was the only option.

Nice attraction for a museum? It's going to rot and go all smelly and most people don't even want to see a dead whale

Seriously though - why would you go and see a whale which is probobly started to rot and the whole place is starting to smell - that's the last thing i want to see is a dead animal rot

Arriving of the FC-716999 Sandettie this afternoon

tugs Oceaan and Oceaan II waiting

There she is the Sandettie Full and Down

The day is almost here to probably say farewell to this beauty  :'( (due to the immense heat caused by the fire her bow has been twisted a little bit)

Onboard the SCH-118 Johanna Maria

view from the bridge, one of the few  parts that has been saved by the fire

another view from the bridge, but now on the aft deck

the chart table

there used to be screens here

going downstairs to the cabins and messroom

this was the messroom (there was more space to the left, but I wasnt allowed to go further inside the room)

The corridor to the front deck

almost nothing left

stairway to the deck where the fire started

Had more pictures but they all are failed due to the darkness (even the flash didn´t help)

this weekend was again a nice weekend in Rotterdam, Wereld haven dagen (in English, World harbor days)
here the pictures of today, tomorrow the pictures will follow from last friday.

One of the newest vessels from the Pilots, the Pollux

The wheelhouse of the Castor

Engine from the Castor

Eendracht

The eyecatcher from the Wereldhavendagen 2014, the dutch navy her new pride, the Zr.Ms Karel Doorman.

specifications:
length: 204M
width: 30M
crew: 152 to 171
speed: 18 Kn
place for: 6 NH-90 helicopters or 2 Chinooks

the queue was 200M long :o, we had to wait 2hours to get onboard, but it was worth it.

A FRISC and the RPA20

The vehicle deck or helicopter deck

The hospital

operation chamber

helicopter deck

HAm 317

Zr.Ms evertsen and Zr.Ms Bruinvis at the bow

our local SAR vessel the Kitty roosmale Nepvue, normally she is big in the harbor but now ....

A NH90 Heli giving a demonstration

RPA20, Fairplay ... and a tug (I forgot the name)

The Pollux and Zr.Ms Karel doorman

a very old tug the Dockyard V

The tour on the Karel Doorman was stopped, we were in the queue (again) for the long tour but after 40min of waiting they suddenly said that there were closing  >:( :'(, so now I did not see the bridge and a lot of other things.

Not surprised, being the largest naval vessel of the Royal Dutch Fleet. The site actually warned for it being a huge attraction for anyone who visits.  :P
