*Knock knock*... ;D. Anybody home?

I hope everyone is keeping well. I do still look in here every so often. It's such a shame that V-STEP seemingly have no interest in bringing us a new instalment!

Oh hi der!

I check in here and there. Usually just to see what's going on in the ol' cookie box.

I only have a quick browse of the forum when I first get back from sea... Sadly, there's not much to stick around for!

Hey folks, hope you are all well.

I am back at sea again after spending a year driving a desk in Hamburg.

Hi Clanky,
Nice to know you are still around. We have lost a few folk since you were around last, but there are some of us who still hang on. Old age is getting the best of some of us, including myself, but life goes on just the same.

Hey,
recently noticed that a lot of new cruise ships are using these interestingly shaped bows, some of which look fairly basic; what i would expect myself to make in sketchUp as i'm terrible with bows

Anyone know why? Is it more efficient, or is it just a new style  ::)

Enjoy this gallery of random google images

Any thoughts?  :o

The new "knife shaped" bows are more efficient than traditional flared shapes.

Instead of punching their way through the water (which wastes energy, causes slamming, violent movements etc) like a conventional bow, they cut their way through the water (so they don't slam etc). Because of this you use less fuel, don't pitch/heave as much and get to sleep more! Win win!

Having worked on ships with traditional bows and new designs I've got to say - New is WAY better than old... Especially in 10 metre seas! :D

Man, this forum and game was a big part of my childhood in 08-2012. It's hard to tell people about how awesome the community was and all the fun we had roleplaying and sailing. I would love to start a server or at least be able to play again to begin with since I run Linux Ubuntu now. Any of you guys have luck trying to run the game on something other than windows?

I haven't been on this forum for almost a year.... 😳
I've moved to macOS now so your not the only one who can play (plus I need to actually sort out my licence as I've had a hard drive die and I didn't De-reg SSE).

So what is everyone doing  now?
Like I'm in Swansea University studying Computer Science and now going into mobile apps. What about everyone else?

I'm not kicking, although I keep stubbing my toes on the door-frame, if that counts?

Gee wilikers! 10 years sure went by..... Haha

Thought I'd pop in, reminice, and give a quick hello.

I hope everyone is doing well, sailing through life with best the conditions possible. :)

Alot of interesting memories in this place. It's wild to think that this was a huge part of my childhood when I was 10-14 years old. Everyone's grown up now!
