Hello together,
well obviously I'm wondering why you are making such a survey, of course I read the introduction but the game is nearly finished and the final works are currently done and you are thinking of the next step. In my opinion it's more efficient to make step by step and concentrate on the actual important thinks like delevoping and releasing the game in the proposed date and time. After the release you could concentrate on such timespending surveys, because there has to be somebody who interprets such research and put it into a database. It would have been better to set up a HTML form on the VSTEP side, where everybody could fill out this form and it would automaticly be changed into excel or what ever.
Well, but this is my opinion and your work. Of course I'm going to fill out this "form" too, so here are my answers:
Country: Germany
City & State/Province: Home: nearby Flensburg, College: nearby Bremerhaven
Age: 21
Sex: male

Where did you purchase your copy of Ship Simulator (Name of Business - City, State/Province - Country):
Astragon (Germany), Amazon (Germany) - both per Internet because of the profit margins in shops
On a scale from 1-5, how would you rate Ship Simulator currently:
3,0 points (in case of SS'06) - No realistic vessel hydrographics, horrible mooring operation, no influences like current, wind & waves, but in order to the new SS'08 I have another oppinion which is much better
Which is more appealing to you in Ship Simulator, the technical simulator aspects (such as docking, tugging, crane operations, etc.) or the fast, speedy arcade style of playing (such as races, ramping, and such):
DEFINITLY Simulation - like already uppon noted docking, manouvering, tugging, assistance etc.
Any additional comments or suggestions welcome here:
In my opinion the game has vast opportunities and potential which wants to be extracted and used. Concentrate on the genre of a SIMULATOR and keep out things like races etc. Implement relistic ship habits and concentrate on the manouvering and port operations. Another interesting part is the the connection between to close located ports like HH-Rotterdam - on the seaway but also on the inland waterway which are in the netherlands and germany very interesting to manouver refers to the tight canals. Also integrate and improve the opportunities (already proposed for the SS'08) like integration of custum ships and - very important - a suffisticated multiplayer mod.
Furtherone I have to cheer the contact between developer/producer and the customer such as this survey. Keep on sticking to this close connection.
In conclusion, the game has a very interesting potential and in the hand of VSTEP I think it'll take the right way, not always in the right stages but nevermind - I'll keep on supporting you ..
