Firestar,

I wish you all the best for this huge and interesting project.
Modeling and bringing such a large ship in a simulator or game is really a true big challenge if you want to make it really accurate and capture the essence and realism of the real ship.

I keep an eye on this project and I hope he final result will be appealing and convincing enough. I can see you've already worked a lot on it. On top of the obviously needed ability, long and difficult projects need hard work, motivation, search, time and tenacity.

You have all my encouragements for this one.

Wow, thanks. That really means a lot. I see you had some more access to blueprints etc than I did. Do you have any stuff like that you might be able to send me in a PM?

I would love to add some more detail at the bow. Does anyone have any pics of this area? (By the way, I am getting a website soon for all this!)

You sure got that right! Now, we get to the real stuff soon...lifeboats, promenade deck, glass windows, *Tim Allen Grunt, yeahhh*!
Here is the horn I made for the ship. My only issue is that the end of it needs to sound more shippy. I did it in a music writing software. Let me know if you think it sounds like the really horn. I added a little bit more 'power' to the horn though.
EDIT: Sorry for such a short response...I had to post that really quickly.

It's a midi, so it'll be considered low quality.

It's a synthesized sound, being comparable to the default horns on Ship Simulator, which, of course, got many complaints about how poor they sounded.

EDIT: Woo! 1912th post! ;D

FS

Don't want to complain but it does sound a bit like a cow which has eaten too much green grass.

I know that, I will save is as a wav or whatever. But Mike, compare it to the real ship's horn.

Even converted to wavs, midis still have a low quality, monotonous, perhaps even "bad" sound to them.

A survey has been created for the SS United States project.
Please note!!: This survey is purely for discussion. No promises can be made based on the survey results. That is for VSTEP to decide IF it gets added to the game.
Click >here< (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=6g_2fvij_2bpBXppdb3cRCzEhw_3d_3d) to take the survey!

There was no "free" option for pay :-\

The amount was not in euros, either.

And why does that matter? You of all people should no care if it is not in Euros. ::) :-\ :-X
Anyway, things look good so far! I see some one said that they wanted to see some interior. What I plan for interior:
  • Bridge
  • All open decks walkable
  • Suggestions welcome
Full interior will not be an option I'm afraid. Though I might be able to get some rooms that are located immediately off the main deck.
EDIT: Here is a small update.
EDIT: Another update. It would be great if you guys could find out if that wall I just created had a window on it.
Another Edit: I did some railing work on her. It looks a lot better. I probably will be making some more low poly railings soon though. Right now her railings are pretty poly heavy.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Today I talked to a nice chap named Dan from the SSUS conservancy. He said that they [The SSUS conservancy] might pay me to do the model for them, and that I can get free blueprints from them!

Thanks guys! I hope I can find a way to have both VSTEP and the SSUS Conservancy to use the model.
