Nah, just focused on other stuff. I wish I had gotten more reference material for it, otherwise, it would be done, but different pictures said different things about them.

Very nice, even though that texture looks weird, not sure if the deckiss supposed to be that way or not.

Yes, that was a texture error I am fixing. That is the hull texture on there. kinda an error.

That stairs modify took a lot quicker than I thought it would!

Ok, this next update is going to contain some MAJOR detail.
Railing Fixes
Stairs Modification.
Hopefully lifeboats and davits.
First, can anyone find out if these stairs have holes through the like the ones on the PoR?

EDIT: Another Stairs update.

They look almost identical to the stairs on POR, except each stair step on POR is made of wood instead of metal  ;)

Ok, so there are holes..nice. WIll probably add those as a .png texture, unless a .dds can handle transparency.

Ok, then I will make a .dds texture right now. Also, thanks! Your models are good too!

EDIT: Here are the bad looking stairs, the texture issue will be sorted out ASAP.

(Sorry for the double post)
I have sorted out the texture issue. Now, I just have to add some more realism to these stairs. The update is rendering, and I will post it as soon as it is done, I would have posted it sooner, but blender crashed.

Here it is guys, I will be making it look much more better later.

No, I don't think so, I will add depth later, I still want to add some detail to the boxes up at the bow, and I also want to get started on the lifeboats, I have not been able to find any pictures though.

EDIT: I just decided to actually model them, the texture looks awful. Will post an update in a sec. Just to satisfy you, here is what I have done so far.

Another Edit: Thank god I found the remove doubles tool, that could have taken a LOT longer.

Yet ANOTHER EDIT: Now I have the real stairs modeled, not a texture, looks much more real I think.

aren't those little details like the steps and other gonna make the poly count much higher?

Those stairs are very low poly considering how much detail they have. They only have 700 polys. Also, thanks Jack! I appreciate everyone's comments!

Oh, I thought you were saying that the stairs were the current polycount of everything I have. So far without the stairs in the model, (Have not quite finished them yet) I have 34,974 polys. I plan to make some more poly-friendly rails though.

Well, Titanic has 800,000 so I think I am set for quite a while.
EDIT: I think this looks much more realistic compared to the rest of the steps.

Haha...I will be posting an update in a second. Rendering right now. Also, I am going to re do those cranes, using the blueprints you gave me a while ago. (Not the ones you drew, the other ones.)
@ Minime: Whats wrong with Fire?::) ;D
EDIT: Ok, here are the stairs completed. I better get started on that lightmap, getting really sick of waiting for these renders. Also, I will fix those dark gaps in the stairs.

Yes, I have also started my first lightmap! Now renders can be done in WAY less time. For an example of the lightmap, see this part of the ship is lightmapped, and all the other parts are not. (Still working on it's errors, it is not perfect yet).

Firestar,

These stairs you're showing us have about 13/14 stairs and not 7. The right number should look more realistic for the final product.
The SS US has about 396 external stairs (the numbers are about 8X20+12X13+10X3+10X50, more or less one or two for the highest stairs), so that means 396X00=277200 polies for stairs... which is, according to me, a big NO.
My opinion is you should spend these polies in shapes and details that really need it for realism sake and for respect of the dimensional aspect of the real ship (a deeper study of photos found on the Internet and books would be recommended or even needed).
In consequence, these stairs should be textured.

But that's just my opinion and way to see it. That's of course your model and you're free to do as you wish of course. I know it is certainly not an easy ship to accurately model and I value your efforts in trying to do so.
