But if you kept a sharp eye out in game there'd be no sinking

what happens if another ship comes (out of the blue) like that speedboat in the trailer, at 40-50 knots, and rams you below the waterline, or that war ship fires a torpedo? That might be in one of the missions

How would anyone here know how ships sink in SSE?

If there was one of the designers here they might :captain:

In order for a ship to break up while sinking, every ship would need to be modeled in pieces in the first place and equipped with complex dynamics to make each piece behave realistically when separated and stay together when not sinking.

This would require a huge redesign effort and place a much higher burden on the system. Because sinking is such a minor occurrence when the simulator is used as it is intended, and as the majority of customers want to use it, it is unlikely that such effort would be justified to satisfy the lusts of a lunatic fringe.

i think the most realistic thing about them would have to be the froth on top of the waves, imagine how the wakes would look as you sail through the SUPPOSED english channel! :o and how they will look when it is rough.

I was wondering that. Surely Dover-Calais would be a great selling point, but apart from Traddles "unofficial" announcement it doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere.

This is what I thought

Maybe someone should poke Frank (not literally) to remind him of what else is in the game...

Ok, I do believe them - but what I meant is that they haven't mentioned it anywhere else

Surely mentioning it on an interview would attract more attention, rather than on a forum where the vast majority of people won't see it.

If they have not been active on the forum, why assume that any of them would be interested in the fact that there would be a single environment including the ports of Dover and Calais? If an official statement of that fact were ever made.
