Bridges are designed to give a nearly 360 degree view of the ship.

Anyway, why does that matter? SA said he thinks the bridge looks too small, not anything about the view.

The side overhang affects the view.

ALL ships have single story bridges.

Ever seen a bridge on a ship that was the height of 2 decks?

the bridge height is as high as each floor indeed  ;)
i will tweak the funnel a little to make it look nicer.
what the antenna consists, it is big enaugh, the ship is just huge compared to it, the width of the antenna base is 2 meters, i think that is wide enaugh.
and it's a matter of the angle of view, on the sideview it looks big enaugh:

the bridge looks so big because it has a round shape, most bridges have a slight ovall shape or have just a flat wall, so the surface looks quite big indeed  ;)
and because of the fact that this ship is 50 meters wide  ;D

ALL ships have single story bridges.

Ever seen a bridge on a ship that was the height of 2 decks?

not me, it has no use to occupy 2 floors for just the bridge, 1 floor is big enaugh to fitt all into

Um.... Mr Robville?

Ocean Liners have their size limits....

Ships traveling between San Francisco, New York, and Southampton have the following limits:

The ship is to be no...

1) longer than the turning point near Southampton
2) taller or deeper than the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York
3) wider than the Panama Canal

The QM2 broke the 3rd requirement and thus had to pay for it by going around the southern tip of South America to get to California. This caused the ship's trip to be longer and more dangerous.

In addition to breaking one requirement, it also pushed the limits on the other two.

So if this ship is going to be longer, taller, and wider....

Just a thought.

this ship also breaks the 3rd rule only, because it's only a matter of a few meters longer and taller then qm2.
the panama canal will also be made wider, i thought have read somewhere that qm2 could fit in there.

here are the technical measurements:
qm2
height : 72 meters (17 decks)
width (beam) : 41 meters
length : 345 meters

Oceana
height  :75 meters (20 decks)
width (beam) : 50 meters
length : 397 meters

diffrence between this ship and qm2
height : 3 meters
width (beam) : 9 meters
length : 34 meters

height between bridge and ocean floor: 69.5 meters? (ok i'll short the antenna)
turning point southampton: ?? can't find measurements
panama canal : doesn't matter, this ship is already too wide  ;)

so, nothing to worry  ;)

thanks  ;D
btw, if anybody knows/has an idea/surgestion of something very luxury, or something that is at least needed in a luxury ocean liner cabin, please tell  ;D
i want all the the smallest things that makes the passenger's voyage very pleasant.
keep it a bit realistic, so i don't want a parking garage, or a private entrance, private elevator to boatdeck, a bed that comes out of the wall, and much more of those strange idea's

more in the way of, a controll computer in the wall (smarthome idea), where you can controll your whole room with, close curtains, turn lights on/off (appart from normal light switches which will also be placed) temperature controller ect.

other idea, mounted binoculars/telescope,

ofcourse, it doesn't need to be such special, a very simple thing like a electric cooking plate is also welcome ;D

Well I have some good realistic ideas.

1. Air Conditioning (Simple but usefull)

2. You know the little minibars there are in hotels? That would be good!

3. A bathtube with the little jacuzi holes.

4. LCD tv that opens from the roof (http://www.sz-wholesale.com/uploadFiles/7%20Car%20roof%20mount%20TFT-LCD%20TV_610.jpg)

5. Luxury lamps/light bulbs (http://www.decorationtricks.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/schonbek-luxor-antique-lamp.jpg),  (http://chezpaulettesfrenchmarket.com/themarket/images/Lillian%20lamp.jpg), (http://www.norwichchurches.co.uk/Glossary/Images/candelabrum--St-John-Timber.jpg)

6. you can put a little desk and to make it fancy put a laptop like a macbook air: http://www.gizmos.es/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/macbook-air-primeras-impresiones.jpg or an HP Laptop: http://www.warpedanimation.com/uploaded_images/hp-pavilion-dv6500t-771698.jpg

7. Chanpagne in tables (Its always good to have some whisky or champagne! ;D)

8. If youre putting a TV you need a remote control! ;)

9. A central heating device for the cold nights (http://www.mardelsur.cl/catalogo/images/F06-11.jpg)

10. fancy wardrobe!

Well I have 10 ideas only, hope you use atleast one of them LOL ;D

*JUST TO ADD*

TJEY CAN ALSO BE NO TALLER THAN THE BROOKLIN OR GOLDENGATE BRIDGES. WHICH ARE A BIT SMALLER THAN THE VERRANZO NARROWS BRIDGE. AND WHAT IS THE ROUTE OF THE OCEANA BECAUSE IF THE ROUTE IS GOING TO BE THE SAME AS THE QM2 IT WOULD PASS THROW HAMBURG AND CHERBURG AND IT COULD NOT BE WIDER THAT THE HAMBURG RIVER (HAMBURG IS CONNECTED TO THE OCEAN BY A RIVER)

no worrys about that, i think i will model my laptop and just keep the manfacturer's name away ;)

im also happy to announce that the basic exterior model is done now  ;D
it's just a bit above 150000 polys, the guidelines say you may not exeed 100000 polys, but thats hardly impossible for a ship like this one. in fact, the titanic model uses near 800000polys so.....

it would also be  good idea to put some couches in the wide corridors for comfort, if youre waiting somebody that has the keys of your room, or even better, you could put that cards that you put on a scanner and the door of youre room opens (http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/5826465/2/istockphoto_5826465-hand-inserting-hotel-room-door-lock-keycard.jpg)

thanks  ;D
here is a new update:

doors added,

all with the smallest details, and ofcourse, the frontdoor with security card reader and spy hole:

the scene from above:

now i will change the floor  ;D

this was posted a while ago, do you see it  ;)
about couches, corridors aren't too wide, it would only irritate staff ect. because it blocks their paths  ;)
