~DONE~ Fictional Oceanliner MS Oceana ~100%~
« on: November 26, 2008, 20:31:17 »

hi there, lots of people would wonder why i started a seccond project, well here is the answer.
i started this project actualy before the poseidon project, by making concept 3d models and blueprints.
because its a very hard task to find where to ask for permission for the poseidon i want one of my models in ship simulator 2008.

so i came with a brand new idea, designing my own vessel, no permission needed.
to remember: i will not stop the poseidon project  ;)

so this is the plan:

my dream is to become a naval architect (vessel designer) so i practice every day with designing my own cruiseliners, none of them really came anywhere exept one: the MS Oceana, there already exists an ship in the world having that name, but it's not related to my project, i named the ship oceana before i knew the name already existed.

the ship is taller, wider and longer then the Qm2, it will have a greater capacity then the FotS

here is the blueprint:

completely designed by myself and should be seaworthy if it should be made in real.
designed for transatlantic voyages and/or caribbean cruises

here is some of the first 3d renders made in 3ds Max 8:

i will try to make the level of detail at its maximum, and optimized as well.
i already practised with engine room panels:

i will not make this for virtual sailor, this is just only for Ship Simulator

Let me know what you think of it  ;D

That looks superb. I would love to design ships too. The blueprint reminds me of a dominic vaccaro cruise ship, I think its that stern. Although the render looks nothing like Vaccaro's ship. but there you go, The ship looks great.

Very Impressive, great job!!!  ;D

Found those 'buttons' textures on CG textures? I think I used them too at one time. But they could be hosted on other sited too of course.

thanks  ;D
yes i found them on cgtextures  ;D
i downloaded texturs like crazy, but i soon got to my limit  :D
i always takes the lowest resolution, it's small and has enaugh detail for me, games would only lagg if you would use big textures ;)

here it is:

the ehh.. engine room  :D
i know you guys are thinking WTF, but these are just the outside walls and bottom floors, you can't reconize a engine room in it right now, but it's 1% done  ;D

after the engines and framework is placed it will look much better  ;)

Uhm..are you going to "framework" the whole ship? Wouldn't that end up in a massive bunch of polygons? ;D

There's a limit?  ::)

I guess I have to ditch the big textures and start taking only smaller ones then.. I've been gathering them at some speed too from there.. heh. But great source for textures though, isn't it?!

thanks, so far i am not planning for adding this ship for virtual sailor, because the details are too high, i would adjust everything to VS instead of SS  ;)

even i were planning, i would announce this project in non SS08 projects

maybe i can tweak the design a bit at the edges, but im not really planning with making the stern more round.
reason: there will be a marina yacht/yetski door at the back with a portable dock (if it would exist in real)
