this is Coromuel in real life. http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/Mexican_Papenburg.html
I modelled that particular paint from the picture with red letters spelling LA PAZ. the last three pictures (before Puerto Vallarta) are mine, you can see the credits. She is sailing today with baja ferries scheme

watch her here. http://youtube.com/watch?v=MDeQG7Ezg7E

Hi Alfredo ur model Coromuel is very nice, I want to become its captain in ss08   ;)

As a new member and user of shipsim, i wonder if possible that seeing there are missions around the solent ( southampton docks). that the developers might consider the Royal Fleet Auxiliary landing ships that use Marchwood terminal, such as Sir Galahad, Sir percival.

A fairly easy win would be Pride of Hull (just clone Pride of Rotterdam and change the name!)

Could have fun with 2 of 'em!

Which harbour did you see this ferry in? I would love to have a wee look at it!  ;D

Cheers

Moving the coromuel from the IA static ships to the active player ships would be a nice idea ! this little ferry seems very charming, and the 3D model looks quite good already !

Did you notice it, in some harbours ?

You can find the coromuel in all the harbours, since you have the  1.1 patch.

If you want to find her directly, try the mission "Fast Crasft Sightseeing in Hamburg" for example. The coromuel is a few hundred meters ahead of the starting point of your Red Jet, along the same peer.

Many thanks Denis,

I'm actually using SS2008 version 1.0 and have not updated to add-on 1.1 yet as I wanted to wait until bugs have been reported in the beta version. I understand VSTEP is hoping to release the final patch on 12th September, so I'm happy to wait until then.

Once again many thanks for telling me where to find MV Coromuel.

Best regards

You're welcome Kevinmcg_ships :)

About waiting the final release of the patch ... It's your choice, but, sincerely, this patch solves more problems than it creates ... And it add really lots of things to the game ...  It's worth installing it !!

Regards,

Denis

What I would also like to see (and sorry, this is not a ship) is freedom to sail anywhere without the stupid "you've reached the end of the environment" thingy.  Just as you can take off from any airport in MS Flight Simulator, and fly all over the world without limits, so it would be good if we could continuously sail anywhere without interruptions.  ;D

i completely agree with this!!! it is soo annoying and i think i may have a problem with it! if comented on the problem though!

I hope you have an extremely good computer then! Do you realise how much computing power would be required to do this? I mean the environments take a long time to load on my pc and it's not really slow.

Flight sim is no where near as detailed as ShipSim. You only have to look at the environments to see how detailed they are. Plus they are huge and have a lot of Polygons.

Are you kidding? Just look at some payware or freeware addon for MS FS, not the default sceneries; they are waaaaaaay more detailed than SS08 environments. Not to mention that water is water everywhere, so no need for detail like in FS (mountains, etc); of course things changes if you want to simulate the bottom of the sea, but there's no need for it as we don't have submarines (yet). IMHO freedom to sail everywhere would be a very good idea, although I admit it will take some time to be realized.
Ciao,

  Corrado

Edit: Sceneries are only loaded when necessary, no need to load the whole world at once (after all, I think I read somewhere it's the same with the traffic: loaded only in the neighbourhood, simplified when not in sight).

a dredger like the Fairway of Boskalis. There must be a ship to maintain the dept in the channels and harbours!

What about Dockwise 10 (formerly know as Dock Express 10.)
This is a special transport ship. The DW 10 is specialy modified to transport complet container cranes.

A possible mission would be loading two cranes by Nellen Kraanbouw (Maashaven), transport them to Hamburg, New York, etc. And put them onto the quay side.

The ship is also capable of taking aboard floating materials but als have many other options.
It is probably a challenge to build the ship in Ship sim 2008 but to me it would be great, even worth paying for because there can be so many interesting missions to be build.

See also the website from dockwise:  www.dockwise.com  or   http://www.dockwise.com/vessels/docktype

I have a lot more information about these ships because I wrote a paper about heavy transport back in my school days. If more people are interested this might be interesting although I realize that the V steppers are overloaded with requests for ships.
