Thanks for all these replies, this post has increased by three pages in the space of a day. I've only logged on to the site now, is it true that New Horizons hasn't been released yet? >:(

Yes that is true. New Horizons will be released between now and next summer ;)

My money is on it being released before next Christmas, but maybe I'm just more optimistic than you!

Of course, it's only natural that we should be so avidly awaiting the add-on when we have all used every ship in every environment running every mission that we have already  :) ;) ::)

I hope they deliver soon or there won't be room on the forum for anything else - like there's no room in my mailbox after all the notifications for this thread (Joking - honest)

Why not?  You English (I'm Welsh) expect the world to speak our language - why can't we expect them  to use our time????? ;D

Why do you think I'm English?

My wife is a New Yorker. She speaks fluent Gaelic, including 12 variants of Welsh, 10 Irish, Manx & Cornish, plus Bretton. Also a range of Ancient Scandanavian languages. I can speak some of those languages to her, and we do at home, sometimes.

My Aunt is a native Welsh speaker (North Wales). My Great-Grandad spoke only Irish Gaelic. I learnt  from both of them. Another aunt is of Dutch South African (Voortrekker) background. She taught me some Dutch when I was a kid, although as Mad Fred will tell you, I've forgotten most of it.

My son & daughter have grandparents, uncles, aunts & cousins in Vancouver. I have a mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces & nephews  in Florida as well as a nephew and brother-in-law in New Jersey.

Just because some of you never summoned up the courage to leave the valleys after you ran away screaming from the Romans.... Heh heh!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

OK, I am English. Just messing with you. But the above is correct. Noe noblis Domine!

I will admit, I'm a twinge bit miffed at the fact that the game has been released a lot earlier in one country, whilst the rest have to sit by and watch videos on youtube. Brings back the same frustration I had whilst watching my American friends play Halo 2, and more lately Halo 3 on their release. Only in those cases, it was 2 days/1 day respectively, not a week (or possibly 2!). After watching the Bugsier 2 tow the Vermaas in that one video, the Sherpa doesn't seem as fun anymore!

Versions to different countries are more to do with translations and we wouldn't want inaccurate text just to have the addon a bit earlier would we?

Terry - I did actually run away screaming to the English Lake District - boating is easier on lakes - when you return to the place of launch the water is still in the same place as you left it.

I must admit that I don't actually speak Welsh (I'm from Cardiff) although I learnt it in school.  I do better at Greek as it's more useful on holiday.

I wasn't having a dig - as you said some while ago,  the forum needs fun.

Hi mate. (or Bosun or Cap'n).

Cardiff? That's Bristol really. It's just a way of getting money from the locals as they to go to and from work. You put the houses on one side and the work on the other and charge a fortune to cross over the bridge. Heh.

Although "they" merrily waste taxpayer's money, I'll bet that not one person needs every single sign to have Welsh and English translations. I think that the chances of finding a Welsh-only speaker are somewhat less than zilch.

I know you weren't having a dig. I was just winding you up. I can spot a fellow joker a mile away. I wanted to see how full we could get this thread with people thinking I'd just insulted the Welsh and/or Romans.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Regarding inaccurate text, do you mean like "percipitation" at the start of every mission? That one drives me up the wall. I just want to scream "it's precipitation, it's precipitation!"  ???

4th is the date I am hearing at the moment. But, it's not a promise, just a schedule. (like 22nd March was)

Terry - it's true what you say about the bridge tolls - they are horrendous.  I'm pleased to say that when I cross it (I have a son in Hampshire and brothers in Cardiff so usually make it a triangular trip) I don't pay, as I have a disabled badge.
Yep Cardiff is the English part of Wales and if I was holidaying in North Wales when living in Cardiff I always said I was from "down south" which was true in a way but they assumed I meant southern England - i was treated better that way!

Have to say though... i appriceate the effort and the huge amount of work in releasing an add-on and that occasionally you missjudge with the release date and do not meet te deadline, but come on, by  a month!!!!  If Vstep are going to try and compete with the giants of microsoft and so on, or with any company for that matter they really need to get there act together.  Furthermore everbodys sitting here guessing about the release date... shouln't somebody post a bullitin in the forum or on the website to say its delayed, the reason for it and the expected release date or are they gonna just sit there and let paying customers give them the benefit of doubt and "wait and see what happens".  I mean we dont sit here having this convosation about an XBOX or PS3 game do we!!!

Well, I suppose Microsoft were about a year late with Vista. Doesn't that sort of disrupt your line of reasoning?

Sorry...  :'(

Very Good point!!!! i just feel kinda sorry for the guys that wait up all night to find that its going to be up to a month late.... i mean vstep didn't announce an official release date just an expected one and they didn't make it.  Fair enough but i really think that they should set a date and stick by it... and that date should be the same worldwide. Microsft got vista wrong big time as you say but they handled the delays a bit better that Vstep are at the moment!

VSTEP never promised a firm release date. They attempt to make each release as bug-free as possible. Testing is a continuous process and, if problems are found, they may delay releasing the downloadable version to fix them. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As far as the boxed versions are concerned, the decision on when to release is up to the publishers—Lighthouse and Astragon—not VSTEP. Both companies approved the gold masters back around the first week in March. They estimated the DVDs would be in stores in 3 – 4 weeks. There was no reason why both publishers had to release on the same date.

Things happen when they happen.

What does your holiday have to do with VSTEP's orginisation?

And Lighthouse Interactive does the publishing, not VSTEP.  ;)

You just presume things and blame the developers for being disorganised....that seems a bit odd to me.
If you really cannot wait, then I suggest you don't go on holiday. There will be plenty of copies available. And if that's not the case then the publisher is most likely to blame, not VSTEP.

Isn't there anyone that can collect the pre-ordered game for you when it arrives when you're on holiday?
I do that all the time if I know I will not be home when a package arrives.. I just give them an alternative adress to go to.  :P

Fred

Do you not think that in view of the number of disappointed potential customers and the considerable speculation about a realise date, that VStep and/or Lighthouse Interactive should issue a statement on Tuesday to say when the add=on will actually be realised. The press realise last week on 19 march from VStep that Ship Simulator 2008 Add-on New Horizons has gone gold! did nothing to clarify the situation!!

If any potential customers are disappointed, it’s though their own baseless expectations. Nothing was promised.
It is to avoid disappointing that VSTEP refrains from announcing a specific date that they may not be able to meet.

VSTEP are not about to put themselves in the position of parents constantly responding to the kiddies in the back seat who keep crying “Are we there yet?”

Hi Fred.

Further to MH1's suggestion, as you are obviously the man in charge of running Vstep, how come you don't sort everything out? Oh yes, and you must guarantee world peace and bring an immediate end to poverty.

C'mon! We know you can do it!
