To Master Captain,
If i understand you,you want to have a demo. The same as in the 2006 version, with a small area of a harbour, and one vessel of the 2008 version. So that you can play this, untill you are able to buy the whole version.
The idea itself,is very good.I think it's up to vstep if they want to do this again for the new version.
However, because of the improvements, this would be a very good cause. This way we can maybe try out, some waves,or other features from the new game.
Regards
Marc
I never thought of that, i do agree having the full game for and hour or an hour and a half would be good for a demo. KM

We definitely need a demo. Just to try if my PC can run the game. Have you seen the minimum system requirements?
I'ld like a demo very much before I buy I game I can only play after updating my PC.

I second that. I don't have an old and slow PC, but the requirements for SS08 are very high! :o
I would like to test-run it as well. And like Master Captain said, a full version for an hour (and a half??) would be very nice. I want that game, but if i have to update my pc first, the game gets a high price...

I really think it shoud be a demo ..but not for just 1 h..  maybe some days, ore a demo where you just can choose 1 boat and 1 place to be on..

Why not just a demo like the first one.  Just a "small" part with 1 boat 1 harbor. Maybe with a part of open sea to see the waves and that's it. It would certainly keep me happy till release  ;D

Yeah I agree, unlimited time, only limited access, like the out of bound areas in the 2006 demo.  That way it will keep me occupied with Ship Sim till the release and it will leave plenty for me to discover when I actually get the game.

Excactly captain davies. But the area must contain a portion of a harbor, AND the open ocean. So that everyone can see how the waves are reacting with there computer. And offcourse it's pretty entertaining untill the release!

I do aswell. I don't like trials which either you have to but after so many days or it tells you to stop halfway through >:(

I'd like unlimited time but limited options too 8)

I would agree to have unlimited options, but you can only get just so many features in the demo. I would rather be able to test everything on my computer and find out if it works or not, rather than pay the price of the full game and have it not work. KM

Question is; will you have enough time in that hour to test everything you need to?

That's why it is safer to put no timelimit on. Nobody get's annoyed when it's over and you can test everything in the detail.

I think something of a compromise needs to be struck here, if Vstep makes a Demo limited in content but not in time, and with that content being the most demanding (CPU wise) that is in the game, then I think all will be satisfied.

I think a time restraint is in order as well. The MSFS X demo for example gave you one small area and a half an hour game play with a limited selection of planes. A lot of people loved it and kept playing it over and over. To me the unlimited time option makes it . . . . Too much like a real product itself. I would say 45 min to an hour per play session at most.

I just found the FS X time constraint an annoying inconvenience, every time the demo timed out I would have to restart it!

I think the Demo for SS6 was great and showed what the game had and was like. It also let you know if you could run the game. I would like to see one just like that one for SS8

Well,

I for one went out and bought ss06 after playing the demo.

It didn't really appeal to me before and I only downloaded the demo as I had nothing to do. Surely I'm not the only one in the world who bought it after playing the demo (I doubt I would have otherwise).

I hope that something comes out soon for a demo to make sure to people that it works with their system.
just a 20 mb demo with only 1-2 missions would be great. especially before the game is avaliable for purchase

Yes. You could have maybe a large boat and a small boat and you can sail around part of the harbor or sail at sea. You get two of each. No time limit. Just restricted areas. Hopfully you can fully control the weather and waves...

Or if VSTEP could create 1 mission specially for the demo and unlimited time restricted free roam limited boats ofcourse that would be good!
