only getting a black screen when launching the game. i downloaded the game from amazon. when i try to update the patches it says it cant find sse. should have got it from ship sim?

Have you register the licensekeys in your profile? Have you a Steam or not Steam version?

How can you download the game from Amazon? Do you mean you brought it from there?

If so, is it the STEAM version?

My system runs also with Service Pack 1, and i can play it.

If you start your game, is the Blackscreen at once, or is Steam starting and then Blackscreen?

You play other games on your PC?
You Direct X in the version the game need?
If you install the game, you do this with Administrator rights?

goto control panel and check to see in programs if you have c++ 2005 x86 , x64, and the update for 2005 so 3 of those then get the 2008 c++ x86, x64,
better look in an other thread in the Forum, after Update 1,5 some of us had big problems to start the game I

this is the only game i have had problems with. this is the only steam game i have had any problems with.
