I think a scenery called “Rhodes(Gre) to Marmaris(Tur)” would be wonderful including beautiful Symi island and the gulf of Hisaronu. That would include several marinas, small islands and channels + open sea in a 30x30 nautical miles area. In real life also it is a favorited area for cruisers and sailors.

Helsinki. :)
This port is challenging having the Kustaanmiekka (wikipedia-link. look at the Mariella-picture).
That is one narrow passage (google maps).

All the ships must go throught that at this moment, but new harbour for containers and tankers are going to be opened in a year, which is not a surprise. :D
The main port for cruiseships is also very tight place.

Also for a yachting kind of scenery Gulf of Fethiye would be good with several marinas, bays and islands in a 16x16 nautical miles environment:

I'd love to see the Panama canal, as that would test your helmsman skills negotiating such a waterway in something like vermas or pride of rotterdam  :)

A lot of options I'd like:

Bosporus straigt. Very fun, especially when northwind current is fully working.
Panama Canal. Entering locks will be interesting as well.
Houston entrance - busiest place in North and South America
Singapore - probably the heaviest traffic in the starights.
Tokyo Bay - must see.

Joey,
Vermaas is Post Panamax, so you will have to wait until at least 2012, or later, before you can take her through.
There are some formidable difficulties in making working locks in the present development environment.

Halifax in Nova Scotia and St John's in Newfoundland would be nice. You could continue up the St. Laurance to Quebec and Montreal etc.

I think that a trip to Stockholm(SWEDEN)wold be nice. There is several big(??)passengerships travelling betwin Stockholm-Ã…land/Helsingfors(Helsinki)/Ã…bo(Turku).
There are a lots of passengerships(small)traveling in Stockholms archipelago. A big company is "Waxholmsbolaget". If you live on an island, the only way out, is by "Waxholmsbolaget". There is about 20000 islands in Stockholm archipelago. And not always easy to navigate.
And its the paradise in the summertime(like so many other islands).
In wintertime we sit inside playing Ship Sim and try to forget that life "sucks".

Hi,
A complete simulation of the ferry service between the port of Dover and Calais would be intresting as this is the worlds busiest shipping route of the world. (Dover Strait).
Also the ports of Dunkerque Zeebrugge and Ostend would be a nice add-on.
The ferry compagnies on the Dover service are P&O, Norfolkline and Seafrance.
It would also more realistic with lightbuoys, harbourlights and -ships.

All these stuff are perhaps ideas for an Add-on for shipsim 2008, or a next release of Shipsim.

succes,

Henk.
