Here should be some usefull information:

You don't have to model the whole bridge, since I have done the Venice end of the bridge. The part you do is exactly 3 kilometers long and 44 meters wide.

This image shows the part to be modelled

The bridge consists of 4 lanes street and four railway tracks, the are seperated by a small wall (about 1m) on both sides there is also a wall likt that one.

In this image you can see the basic structure of the bridge - five archs then one big column and again five archs. I think we should simplify it like this, so actually you only have to make one section and repeat it untill you reached 3 km. (The measurements are in the image above)

Here you can see the bridge from the side - it is very low, but I'm sorry I have no measurements for the height.

I hope this is enough info for the moment

Ahh OK

yes - thats enough

I think the best thing is as you said to make one "block section" and repeat it :)

Do you have a view of the railway side...? :)

It's not easy to find pics of this bridge. The quality isn't the best.

Hi all,

here are some new pics from Venice
Since school has started again I don't have that much time but I'll try my best to finish the modelling by February 2012 - the first anniversary of the project.

Anyway here are the pics

A small bridge together with some other buildings (note harbour wall isn't textured yet)

The Ponte Lavaneri - another bridge

@ TFM and Dexter I hope I'll see you models soon - I'm sure they will be great

If anyone else is intersted in helping us please contact me here.

Looks good

Do I have to do the curved bit of the bridge of just the straight section?

Yes it looks perfect

So I'll do the texturing and it can be added to the environment.

Where is the file topic? I've lost it

Yes now we have done more than the half of modelling work, I think.

Thanks for uploading the bridge I will try to texture it as soon as possible, but I'm not at home at the moment.

Ok - the longest bridge of Venice is now officially finished.

Here are the first renders and screenshots:

Can you see the end?  ;D

Without the overhead wires

The finished bridge with overhead wires.

This screenshot gives you a feeling of the bridge's size. It's almost as long as the city.

More updates will follow soon - including dexters marina and some other cool things.

Woow very nice Awesome!

Its quite a big area..

I dont really think the large land area is that important

But the port entrance is quite a nice thing if that can fit on the map..

Large ships would love to go through the big port entrance and sail along to Venice

You are right.
The large land area at the left side won't get many details as I won't be possible to access this area with you ship. The port entrance will be modelled out more detailed as well as the city and the cruise and ferry port.

Here is an older screenshot of the accessible area of the environment:
