Looked at Frank's Post. Post is telling me the update is coming NEXT week. Post was last modified at 29th of september (Yesterday)
What will that post tell us next week?? Update comes out next week ???
I guess so.. Great another week late, or worse weeks or months. Or maybe years.. Or just never.. :-\

They could better tell it's coming next year. And that it finnaly arrives earlier. Better than delaying ;D

if certainty can be given, it will. easy as that.

Specially since this is not just up to vstep, it's too tricky to say something untill it's certain.

So please, a little more patience..

Aad, if my memory serves me correctly, which could be in doubt as I am getting old, the changes to Franks post cover some extra updates which have been added to the patch since his original post. Thus I think that the actual date of release has remained the same. But at our age patience is part of living, since we learnt it the hard way.

Thank you Mad_Fred for jumping on people.  The comments on here were starting to get pretty childish and mindless.

gota say i didnt really say the right words about my point!

instead of constantly updateing the update thread that is locked maybe they should post up a new thread! its not that hard is it!

there comes a point where people will get ticked off with not getting what they paid for!

No problem, jfail. Just trying to keep the place a bit tidy...

wigelz, there has only been one update in that topic as far as the release goes, the other one was an update of the patch changelog.

Again, we can merely deal with waiting for it, or ask for a refund. This isn't the world's first product release that doesn't live up to everyone's expectation, and the reason for the delay has been explained. Even Vstep themselves are waiting. The manner in which it's put in a topic is irrelevant , you can read what Frank has posted. It's not that hard is it?  ::)

And please mind your language. Frustration is no reason to forget about the forum rules or common decency.

Maybe it's time to read the announcements and understand why it's not out yet and that there's no invalid reason for it to be like that.  ::)

Okay, just being sarcastic there, sorry. But seriously, would you prefer an unfinished patch that also is only available to part of the community and not the whole? I hope you don't have the steam version, cause that would mean you'd miss out while the rest can enjoy it already, had they released it as it was last week. Then what would you think of it?

Be glad, I'd say, that the extra time needed to get it sorted for a simultaneous release on both venues means that Vstep spent that time wisely and the patch now gets more content and an increased number of fixes. Something good comes out of a bad situation, that way. And I reckon that improvement is worth the wait even if there was no other problem holding it back.

Cause that will now introduce fixes and improvements that might have had to wait a lot longer to be implemented. Fixes the public asked for. If that's not responding to popular demand, then I don't know what more can be done. Work takes time. If the public wants to have stuff changed/fixed, then they'll have to wait for it to be done and tested. The only thing that could be said is that maybe there shouldn't have been a release date given yet. But oh well.. External problems made it an unpredictable delay. A lesson for the future, I am sure.

I for one at least think it's better to wait and get something that's better, than to get a less elaborate patch a lot sooner. But hey that's just me.

Fred

Reading some of the posts on the forum leads me to two thoughts.

1.  If we keep our comments to reporting bugs, asking for items we would like included/improved or which we think have been overlooked maybe VSTEP will take us seriously.  If we behave like a group of disgruntled schoolboys VSTEP will eventually ignore us. - Frankly, I find it amazing that Fred is being so patient and actually replying to some posts.
2.  As the community is showing that it cannot cope with disappointment maybe it would be better not to give guesstimates about the release of any items.

Come on chaps, there is still plenty to enjoy with what we've got - unless we are in the sad state of having nothing to do but play computer games all day.  And for those who still have SS2008 there must be missions that you can still enjoy.

You have to consider one thing guys...

Those who provide information and suggestions to VSTEP in a polite and controlled manner WILL get listened to much more than those who are ignorant and impatient about this situation.

If you would like to be critical about the game (which is always a good thing because it shows that the game can only get better) then do so in a polite, structured and friendly way.

The more friendly you are, the more your opinions will be taken on board by VSTEP. Frank and others do actually read these forums, and your suggestions are always noted by us (the staff) and are passed onto VSTEP.

So in conclusion, if you want to be heard, and you want your views to actually be taken into account then tell us by all means, just don't be rude about it :)

If you are continuing moaning and grumbling about the delayed patch or other troubles in an rude, unpolite manner, Vstep will be much more reluctant to help us with more problems which may arise with the next patch!

Please have patience and stop moaning and grumbling in a rude, unpolite manner, otherwise you will mess it up for the other players!

Whilst agreeing totally with the sensible remarks made by Captain Spencer and others I do feel that VSTEP must share some of the blame for the tone of some of the posts.  VSTEP have not been exactly coming forward with any information for delays and I have noticed that it is only after some members have really sounded off that Frank has posted a comment.  One example of this is the justified angry mutterings from those of us that pre-ordered SSE direct from VSTEP.  It took two e-mails from me to VSTEP before I got an answer from Customer Services stating the problem for the delay, and lo and behold a message then appeared on the forum from VSTEP!!!  As we all know it doesn't take long to post a message to say that 'sorry, taking longer than we thought, expected date is now such and such'.  VSTEP need to be proactive and communicate with us, we might mutter but we'll accept it.  The wrong way is what is happening now with a drip-feed on information from administrators, moderators and occasionally Frank.  So, come on VSTEP treat us as favoured customers and maybe it will stop all the idiots posting rude comments on the forum - I did say maybe..............................!!!!

Metman,

VSTEP did post a reason why the patch was delayed the first time, and the same applied for the second time too.

Isn't this what you wanted? :-\

Hi Guys
You all want the patch yesterday but you all want it at the same time so think ?
V-Step have already said they want to be fair to everybody who bought the game
that is england france germany denmark spain and all the people that live in different
parts of the world.
Witch mean this has to be made possible by arranging mirror site's for you and putting
in place everthing ready for all the eager beaver's to press the download button and
not be disapointed so its not just a case of patch ready put it on the site and its done.
there are a lot of things that have to be considered for you the player/buyer

                                                                                                  Eric

So while you'r blaming them they are working very hard to get you what you want

Just fancy that the non-Steam users get the patch and apply it and the Steam users don't. In such a case you get a discrepancy with the non-Steam and the Steam users. Especially with playing in the Multiplayer environments it will give a lot of trouble.

Very true indeed.

Actually, there would not even be a possibility for the patched people to play MP with the non-patched people. Since the new version will not be backwards compatible.

So it's not just the fixes they'll be deprived off untill the patch comes to them aswell, but multiplayer on the whole aswell.

But people don't think about that sort of stuff when they yell that they want it now and they don't mind if others have to wait. Imagine it's you that can't play while your mates are playing online, and not the other way around, that's what I would say to the non-steam users that think the steam users should just wait.

Didn't they pay the same ammount of money? So why are you better than them? Why do you think you deserve the patch sooner than them? Why should they loose the chance to play online for a while, with they non-steam version using shipsim friends?  That's what I'd like to know. And if you have a good enough reason, I'll tell Vstep about it.  ;D

Captain Spencer, my post above said that VSTEP are slow in communicating with users on any news.  You mentioned the patch in particular, if you care to read back through all the threads on the subject you will note that there were a lot of comments - both sarcastic and polite - about the various bugs in SSE and what were VSTEP doing about it.  It took a while before any direct comments from VSTEP were posted.  My comment, and my apologies for repeating it, is that VSTEP are slow to communicate with the end user -ie you and I!!  In these days of fast communications there is no excuse for not informing people by the obvious methods (a) this forum and (b) by e-mail newsletter.  The sad part about this is that VSTEP are not alone in keeping their customers informed of what is happening, unless of cause if you own a Beamer or a Roller!!!
