It wouldn't matter how fast she is going, the same amount of smoke will come out, because the boilers run at a consistent heat, only the transmission and gearing changes to change speed, that is why there are only a few speeds for her to go.

And no, there is no way to change it.

There should not be a lot of smoke from well fired boilers under steady sailing. The model is designed to be as realistic as possible.

There are many topics about Titanic on this forum, if you are interested in learning about her.

Gearing, Austin? I think you have her confused with a diesel tractor, or a steam turbine.

Do her props run at a constant speed? I have no clue how titanic works, lol.

Yes they do, when the engines are running at constant speed.

Hi ritesh,
I have moved this topic to 'General Discussions'.

It would help us all to help you if you could read the posting guidelines here,

Looking at your various postings Ritesh, your Titanic doesn't seem to have a lot of wash. You doesn't seem to have much smoke from Titanic. You were saying that Titaniic's fast wasn't fast (by which I think you might mean that it didn't look very fast. Is that right?)

I can't see that you've ever posted your DXdiag, Ritesh, so I can't be sure, but I suspect that your graphics card is a low-spec one, or perhaps you have an old driver or something.

If you have posted your DXdiag, can you let me know in which thread? Thanks.

OK, it's a low-spec graphics card. That is probably a lot of the problem.

Hi Terry,
Oh dear, see my signature.

There are so many topics from ritesh that I got confused.  ???

It is not only the onboard graphic chip that is the problem but I won't go into that here.

OK, it's a low-spec graphics card. That is causing there to be no smoke and no wash from Titanic.

Make sure you didn't make the mistake I did and not realize smoke was turned off in the graphics options. I wondered for months why I never got any smoke and was shocked to find it was an option that was unticked.

His picture clearly shows that he does have smoke, just not as much as he expects.

Titanic has 2 huge triple expansion steam engines which i believe were directly connected to the 2 props. Now her center prop was steam turbine driven but with the triple expansion engines it was direct gearing i believe.

Master Captain said it. There are  triple expansion reciprocating engine driving side propellers (3 blades each) and the steam outlet from both engine went to a low pressure steam turbine driving itself the center propeller (four blades but smaller diameter). As all reciprocating marine engine, they were reversible. While a steam turbine is not. You can see in the movie Titanic, the watchkeeping engineer when received the full astern order from the bridge, ordering to stop both engines to restart them on the other side, and rushing to close a big valve wheel, wich is the turbine main inlet steam, in order to isolate and then stop it. Those engines were very flexible, to increase speed send more steam, to decrease send less steam (by increasing/decreasing the steam flow via a distributor, exactly like an hydraulic engine).

You can get smoke out of the rear funnel if you set fire to the deck chairs.

You can get smoke out of the rear funnel if you set fire to the deck chairs.

Or if you're cooking one hell of a dinner. ;)

Or if you set light to your computer.  ;D

So it works like a water wheel, running on steam. You change the direction steam is moving and it reverses.

It's a little more complicated since it's a piston engine.
