So it looks like that VSTEP seem to be working on a new game - this popped up on my facebook the other day...

https://www.vstepsimulation.com/survey/?fbclid=IwAR3fRy7pvW20_5NTavok0NFPcWnC263YLEz-5Z7J4m6PDw5wb3cpePQPsBg

Side not its really sad seeing somewhere I spent a lot of time a few years back as dead as it is today.

I find this information most interesting. I only hope that it does lead to future developments in the field of marine simulators.

Wow. That'd be nice. I've been yearning for a ship simulator to replace these for years, But nothing ever comes close.

Vstep, you should also develop a Ship Simulator for Linux.

You should fill in the survey, it would be interesting to see if anything develops from this.

Good for you MokMok, It is always worth trying to keep Vstep informed of our interest. Who knows what might come of this.

Looking quite fancy. Color line recently introduced a (diesel/electric) plug in hybdrid ferry! http://baltictransportjournal.com/assets/files/news/color-hybrid-color-line-ro-pax-ferry-ulstein-group.jpg

On the topic of a new Ship Sim, I've no idea. They probably realized that there's just no other alternative and it's a fairly decent market to tap into.

That is indeed a bit of very good news.  That it is intended top be available next year is even better news. This devoted player is hoping the new version compensates for the sad demise of interest in SSE, with it's almost insoluble mission editor. Jan (Rooster24) being the only mission builder left to keep our interest alive. He has my undying thanks for his perseverence.

Is the editor of SSE 2010 so difficult for creating missions? I am glad to hear that Vstep is developing a new ship simulator for home users.

I also hope that Vstep will develop Nautis for Linux.

From the bits that I have seen of Nautis, it is a massive improvement over the old Questviewer based ShipSim games. I am curious to know though which features they'll incorporate into NH.

@MokMok,
Interesting question. Though Unigine seems compatible with Linux systems, I haven't heard any details regarding this from Vstep as of yet. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

I am rather curious about the system requirements for this new game. I hope that it will be playable in Linux natively, or with Wine/PlayOnLinux.

From the spec sheet in the sign up it seems to require a Nivida 1050 graphics card and 8GB of Ram.

Seems much more reasonable than SSE.

And About WINE - there is a performance hit it might require more resources on linux as I will be suprised if VSTEP are targeting Linux. However macOS will be let in the dark as Apple are moving to metal which will take another rewrite...

The Alpha testing form mentions a minimum graphics card requirement of a GTX 1050. I suppose that's the recommended graphics card that they use.
Although NH may require a heavier system, Unigine seems far more stable than Questviewer, so I suspect that even if a PC doesn't meet the requirements, you'd more likely be met with framedrops rather than crash to desktop errors. This is all speculation from my end though of course.

CPU requirements are unknown as of now.

I recogn it's going to be a high threaded application so I'm gonna guess it's going to require at least 4 cores at least 2.5ghz. AMD will have the edge of Intel chips here.

I'm going to guess an Intel® Core™ i5-4440 Processor will be minimum however Skylake and above will be better suited due to hardware acceleration - depends if VSTEP uses hardware acceleration....
