I was wondering how to make bigger waves ( higher than 4m..), I've seen it on youtube and I've just been wondering lately how to do it.

Welcome to the forum!!!!! It is a great place and you'll meet new people and make many friends!
Well to answer your question you need to go to Free Roam and customize the weather and you cannot be in a harbour area because you then have a limit but in the atlantic ocean you put the wave bar all the way to the right. I'm not sure how high that is but thats how you do it.
Again Welcome! :2thumbs:

You can't make it higher than 4m. Some users tampered with the program files, but this can not be done in the newer versions of SS. It is also against the EULA.

Why does everyone want bigger waves.

I like just sailing in calm water. :captain:

Why does everyone want bigger waves.

Not everyone, TFM, mostly those who have never been in even a four-meter sea.

Even with that height restriction it is possible, with intelligent use of wind, to make a sea that can be exciting for smaller boats and even cause Vermaas to work rather hard.

I think youthdog has already explored the possibilities because he motioned the 4-meter limit—which fact somehow escaped Capt. Matt.

I guess that's not the porpose of simulator.

You beat me too it...

Ship Simulator is a game that is to show you how to  manouvre/sail a ship, NOT TO SINK THEM

That would be ignoring the user agreement, and as far as I know it is impossible as the files are enrypted after v1.0?

That's a rather outdated news, taking it's history from the dark times of 2007.  As Nathan said, now it's impossible to modify the weather files.  Besides, each one, who comes out & confesses in violation the EULA traditions & advising others to follow his sin, will be having the same fate here.

The EULA is not enforceable on that point. If they want to mess up their own copies of SS, they are certainly entitled to do so. However, no one will help them fix it.

As a practical matter, it would be very difficult to tinker with any recent version unless they have the ability to edit encrypted XML files.

Let the kiddies get their jollies, if they are able. If they are silly enough to think that any resulting behavior of the ships in such waves has any reality.

That video makes the point well, WM. It is a cartoon of ship behavior, and indeed of how a sea actually looks.
Perhaps if I see a video of North Star or Sherpa pitchpoled, I might be impressed.

There are big waves but the dosen't move it looks ...  :-\
But 1000 meters  ;D ;D :D looks great  ;D

I would like the bigger waves in extremes but the good waves but what can we do it's not much important...

If you want to destroy ship try with there are some ways:

1: Anchor: ( My Example )

I took P&O and i start to cruise, vhen i was stil under 2 kn I put the anchor down and i put the maximum gas and vhen he start to get fast it upturn down and it was realy cool... i could walk on it and i went under the watter it was cool...  it looks realy funny try it  ;D ;D ;D

2: Fast stranding: ( My Example )

I use Titanic it's the best cose he dosen't have the good bow!
I went to Islands Phi Phi and i took the maximum power of Titanic i went to the small Island and i crash to it with the full power but it was about 2 meters and i get strand but as I was in full speed i strand to small Island, crash ower it and i get upturn with Titanic it was so cool and i that example i could walk on the titanic and dive under watter so it was realy cool like on the real Titanic just i went upturn on the Island no on the Iceberg  ;D ;D

3: Normal sinking with New Horizonts.

If you have the packs or New Horizonts if ship is realy destroyed it's start sink so took the ship ( i tryed with the Ocean Star ) and detory the ship by crashing and then he'l slowly start to sink... also cool...

Try some of this examples maybe you'l sucssed!

Good luck... ;D

Hope to bigger waves in SS2010!

Good bye!

I like how on one Youtube video, explaining how to edit weatherpreset files to get bigger waves, someone commented: "How do you do this on Ship Simulator Collectors Edition?".

I laughed about the part of 1000 meter waves, that is 3,280 feet. Taller then the tallest building in the world...
