Nope, I want to get Wave Commander done this week.

Huh?! Done this week?

You might as well take your time, Shane. You'll get much better results if you just plod along nicely, rather than setting an exact deadline for yourself  - You'll never be fully done with a model, there's always bits to add.

Yeah, well said!  And when getting old enough you're returing the exuses back as well. ;D

I bet if Gloat or shipfan55 were 5 years old, then probably they could be unbannable.

Hello fellow ShipSimmers.

I have begun to criticize the accuracy of this model. I will almost surely delete it, unless I can figure out how to fix it. My only issue here is accuracy, I mean, the model looks great but I'm sure you would rather have it done good than quick. (Paws off that statement).

Weather or not I will delete it will be up for you to decide. If I delete it, I promise you I will scour the web for information, and restart it. Good news for this project too:

I have finally come across a VERY valuable resource, which includes accurate plans of each deck, a hull body plan, ensuring an accurate hull, and last but not least, I am in contact with people who have been on the ship in the last 2 years.

It might be a while before I get a chance to start it, but that is dependent on various factors. So what do you decide? Should I restart it or try and attempt to fix it? Remember, if I keep it there is no promise of accuracy. There is also a third option, which is to make another classic liner, a lookalike of course, which will have the same hull shape as the SSUS, ensuring you guys still get that 41.6 knots. ;D

Ok, Anfinn, do you want me to restart her (I hope :P)  or try to fix the current model?

Ok,
2 People want me to restart
0 want a new liner

And I've decided. I am going to restart her if I do any more work on her. By the way, this will be the third restart I've done on her. I'll see if I can get a screenshot of the very first model.

I'm not going to start anything new, I'm just restarting an old version.

***MORE EXCITING NEWS***

If you've looked through some old posts you might recall me working on being paid by the SS United States conservancy for a model for them to present in New York and Washington. After discussing stuff with him over the telephone, conversation died down and there was a tacit cancellation of the deal. After months passing, I've emailed him again and am going to talk to him over the phone later this week and re discussing the deal.

So far everyone is cooperating and it looks as if this is very likely to happen. The conservancy has even offered to supply me with full plans, physical high-detail, and possibly digital. The model is going to be very high detail and high quality textures complete with bumpmapping, tons of animations, and much interior. (Model nerd talk for "AWESOME!!" :P). I am not allowed to use this model for ShipSim unfortunately due to punishment by law (Copyright issues).

Though I am allowed to create a second model for the game, but it can not use any parts from the high high detail model for the SSUS Conservancy. So I need to create a second model for you guys. I am however, allowed to use the plans I get from the SSUS Conservancy. And this model needs to be less detailed. Although it sounds more like something good for them, look at the bright side for you guys: Any tricks that I learn from the last model will speed up the progress of this model, and maybe be a little better shaped!
Just a little news,
Shane.

But I thought

Lowering poly count is not an easy task and most of the time involves re doing most of the model.

As well as takes a long time?

You didn't read what I said at all. Read it next time, it'll give you a lot of info.
I said that I'm making two models, one for ShipSim and one for the conservancy, not lowering the poly count of the high res one which is NOT for shipsim, but for the conservancy, which I explained earlier. I won't need to lower any polys since I'm making an entirely different model, but really, I explained that.

I'm getting paid for the one for the SSUS Conservancy. Which one do you think I'll work harder on? I there's a chance I might work on them at the same time, to speed things up, but don't count on it. Also, at least I'm trying! This weekend I'm talking to someone on the phone and they should be able to get me some plans if they agree to my terms and I agree to theirs.

This is a great project. I personally have tried to coordinate with the SS United States foundation on aiding their progress with the ship, and prior to their establishment I too was in coordination with a couple Congressmen and Senators to get a government backed organization to preserve the vessel. Seeing this vessel possibly come to life in SS will really be amazing.

You can never speak too soon. The project isn't quite dead, but lack of permission and materials (mainly permission) REALLY prevents quite a bit of progress. It's on hold.

If you can get the project kickstarted and a SSE lisence key, you could enter it into the contest being held.

Did you NOT just read the post directly above yours? NO PERMISSION. I don't know if you understand how absolutely necessary that is. Sorry to be speaking so directly, but that's the truth. Just wondering, do I need SSE in order to participate?
