You didn't got my point. I ment that if lifeboat is mentioned on that picture too & in slideshow there was about SS Pro or SS10, could be that there will be an option to launch lifeboats if they're shown as a moving parts, as I said before.

Its been mentioned before, but i am very doubtful it will be included. And That was all about modelling vessels, i dont see how that could have any connection to a hint with having launchable lifeboats in SS10

That gives a fantastic insight to how ships are put together and helps us modellers to attempt to have our vessels put into the game.

Thank you for sharing that, it helped me a lot :)
Wow! Thanks Diamant, that will help me too!

You're welcome. I found myself that slideshow is very helpful to understand what & how exactly should be done all those things which you are facing during the 3D modeling stage.
Yeah, I didn't realize that about the lightmap...Now I don't have to wait 6 minutes for a clay render! ;D

Don't understand yet what is a Lightmap & how to do it. I guess that SU is out about this subject & I'm not good at Photoshop.  So will need some help maybe. :P
I could help you with lightmaps. Basically, it is just a texture to make the ship LOOK like it is realistically lit. If you ever need help, don't be intimidated to ask me.

Maybe a texture for morning, late afternoon, and night will be for the next version!

Frame 37 on that slide show seems to show that mystery rig from before in a far better view!

Also, frames 40 and 10 show more views of Dover.

Frame 10 also shows that effect where the waves decrease in height as you enter the harbor.

That slide just shows how much work is involved to make a vessel for this game :P
It shows all the models that are included and that you have to make + textures, lightmaps etc.
It easy to think that this looks so easy for totally new add-on developers, but this slide just shows that it's not that easy. So keep up practicing folks, maybe one day VSTEP will accept your new ships! ;)

I'm surprised VSTEP hasn't shared this with us sooner - perhaps then they may have fewer questions from modellers :)

I'm glad I have a better insight as to what actually needs doing now though :)

Yes, this could have gotten a lot of projects done sooner probably. Now I can get started on my lightmap!

Bear in mind that the lights are a set of polygons. As they get more complex, you run the risk of the game going slower and slower and ultimately crashing, with Questviewer giving you a report about it (and being accused of being the cause of the crash, as always!)

Well there will be a better sea model.

I also hear there will be some sort of two tier wave system. 1 for sheltered areas and 1 for open areas.

So to answer your question - most likely so. ;)

Do you think the same as I'm thinking?  ::)
Doubt it.. That's a feature of Pro.. And I don't see VSTEP adding this to the game version..

As I said before (somewhere on this forum), VSTEP has to allow a difference between a €4000 proffessional product and a £20 simulator game.

The series of photo's on display there show what goes on 'behind the scenes' regarding the construction of a new vessel for the game, and what the steps involved are.

So nothing to do with ingame functionality as such.  ;)

For the new ships on a later version like 2012. I was thinking the Wizard, Knock Nevis, Emma Maersk, and when technology improves ss maybe put a submarine in the game. (not likely though)

check this out, it's written in dutch, but it clearly says, that there will be some nice new shipsim editions after ss10 (ss inland shipping, ss combat, ss sailing)

There already was an Emma Maersk project, they said we couldn't use their name.

Look in the VDGG and look for Emma Maersk project. Or you could search.

Marcstrat said that in early 2008. Things can and could have changed of course.

Perhaps the operator thought differently..
But we won't know ofcourse untill the game is actually released early 2010..

well if my sleuthing skills are correct, this presentation (http://www.slideshare.net/PjotrAtVSTEP/ship-simulator-professional-20-introduction-1683290) shows on slide 5 that singapore is probably coming to Shipsim, and on the previous slide Dover and Calais are likely to be included in Ship Sim Extremes, especially as they've already been rendered in SSPro (in fact, Dover appears in the teaser trailer for SSE.)

We'll just have to wait and see.

Hey everyone,

Just a sidenote..  if something is shown as planned for the Pro vesion, that doesn't mean that it will also be in the game version. Some things might, others will not.

Just to avoid too much speculation.  ;D
