This does not necessarily mean that Norman 1 will be included in Extremes. She may have been tossed into that shot just to make it more interesting.

FYI: There are two cranes.

And what of the ships seen with the Esperanza? I don't think they're frigates. They almost look like some other navy vessel, but I'm not 100% sure....
These are whaling vessels.

Whaling vessels have very large cranes, two at most and almost look like oilrigs from afar. This was told by me of what Whaling Ships look like.

I think you are confusing a semi submersable  oil rig for a factory whaler (photo)

D has just exposed a dirty little secret that the oil companies have tried to conceal from Greenpeace:
Most of the so-called “petroleum” that comes from the North Sea is actually whale oil.

I think Matt is confused by the shift in subject. His mind seems fixed on the image that has been identified as a natural gas production platform.

What I am saying is that the natural gas production platform Norman 1 that is modeled in SS Pro does, indeed have two cranes in addition to the flare tower. They are barely visible on the left and right sides of the image in question. Their booms are in a lowered position.

This view of the cranes is at right angles to the view from Extremes.
The flare tower sticks out  at an angle of about 30 degrees from vertical, so it appears to be at different angles depending upon the direction of view.

The legs of Norman 1 are of large diameter and, viewed from some angles, appear as a single hull.

Hi D,
Yes, the general layout is the same as N1.
N1 is a very high poly model, and LOD had kicked in at the zoom level of my shot. The cranes do have cables and detailed booms.

Marty

OK. This has to be the last one, before Frank stomps me.

There is only a small angle of view that puts the flare tower at the right angle without opening a hole between the legs. I missed it slightly.

What's that in the background of the last teaser screenshot? (Below the right support of the bridge)

Looks like a new luxury yacht like the marbella. Hope it's a playership!

It looks like one of the AI ships in the current version. I would guess that is all it is going to be. I know this is off topic, but does anyone know why the super yacht was not in SS08?

It almost has more of a more futuristic/aerodynamic look to me. Can anyone magnify it? Seeing its details is hard at that resolution.

Oh, okay. At that resolution, it looked as if it had a spoiler or something else sticking up in the back.

Both Polar Regions are properly called “arctic”. Antarctica is a continent in the South Arctic region.

It is unkind of you to imply that the Developers don’t know which way is up. By way of nit-picking, one might also say that “SS2010” is a mistake.

Interesting. Here the north region is called "arctic" & the south where Antarctida is - "antarctic".

Interesting—here we call it “Antarctica” instead of “Antarctida”

"Arctic" is the region at both poles.

In the north, the "arctic region" is the area north of 66° 32′ N (often taken as 66½° N). Within these regions the sun does not set on June 21 (the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere) nor rise on December 22 (the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere)

"Antarctic" means "southern arctic", loosely translated, or perhaps "under arctic".

"Antarctic" is the region that includes "Antarctica".  i.e. South of 66° 32′ S (often taken as 66½° S). Within these regions the sun does not set on December 21 (the summer solstice in the NSouthern Hemisphere) nor rise on June 22 (the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere)

"Antarctica" is the continent.

Who on earth believes anything that bunch of self-appointed know-nothings says?

According to them, I died some years ago from alcoholic poisoning in a Tibetan monastery. They withdrew it when I was on the verge of having their site closed down, under legal duress.

No, I trust the Oxford University resources.

"Arctic is the term for polar regions past the circle of 62o 32'", as I stated previously. Bothe the North and South poles are arctic regions. the southern one is known as Antarctica.

You have to be very fluent in English to understand the subtle differences in the meanings.

No, that was a hint that you should create lifeboats seperate from the model and put them on later on, with everything else  ::)

From  http://www.slideshare.net/PjotrAtVSTEP/the-content-creation-workflow-of-the-ship-simulator-game

A hint that we'll have an option to launch lifeboats soon?

That gives a fantastic insight to how ships are put together and helps us modellers to attempt to have our vessels put into the game.

Thank you for sharing that, it helped me a lot :)
