Here is a shot from last night's "Masters PEC" exam. From my viewpoint, there were three Davepuseys (frightening enough).

But to make things really scary, the Latitudes were practising to become a circus act!

What actually causes these clones?

Davepusey.  ;D

Thing is, these ships were "really" there on my PC, but not on Dave's. When Dave exited the game, that top one came crashing down.

So it's not a server-generated thing, it's a client-side artifact (that is, it is on the user's PC, not on the server).

Sometimes only 1 person can see it or them, sometimes everyone exept 1 person can see it, or sometimes everyone can see it.

Titanic clones are NIGHTMARES!

There were 2 Titanic clones of 1 Titanic on one of my servers (either NH Biggest Ships or Biggest Ships) and my fps DROPPED LIKE A ROCK. I was a speed boat, and drove into them, between 2 of their bows and got stuck wedged in there ;D

Once, I moored to 2 Redjet4 clones, and when the Redjet they were following left, they stopped moving, but stayed in the enviroment, rather than leaving with them. When the Redjet respawned as a Vermaas, though, I was dragged across Marseille VERY quickly -- even over the harbor walls! And when the Vermaas left the server, they started dragging me off the map. When I got caught on a harbor wall, though, they could go no further. It was VERY fun ;D

I thought I'd just shed some light on the creators of the clones.

I, and I don't think anyone, really knows what causes these clones but putting together all the information (I can explain one by one later if you ask) but I'll through out my best. ;)

1. A packet is sent from computer A.

2. The packet is currepted in transit to computer B.

3. Once computer B. recives the message is "makes" the clone ship.

4. The next packet that is sent from computer B. to computer A. (Obviosly though the server) contains all the information about the Clone ship.

5. The packets continue in a loop forever because there is no input from a player but phyisics moduals still run because that is a function of the server not the computer.

Hope this helps,

I almost forgot! Sometimes there are clones of ships NO ONE PRESENT IS EVEN STEERING!

Anyway, usually clones disappear when the ship that spawned them leaves the enviroment, with a few exceptions.

Also, some ships DO have screennames, but when they do, it's of someone that's still in the chatroom and not in the enviroment.

That's because the currupted packet "Needs" a name and it is just broken enough to take a random one form the non-Dedicated people. ;)

it was really weird.  You pulled out of the harbor with 3 red jets and one was almost on your back

Then the one that had the clones dissapeared, and when they respawned, I was going faster than the speedboat, being pulled along by the 2 RJ4s ;D

Oh! That's right! I could attach to them because I used towing cables, not mooring lines!

There ar 4 RJ4s, but only 2 have names.

And the clones followed the named RJ4 on the right, though it was rather funny when we got one of them behind the barrier ;D
