I posted a message, where I explained how I was using a Saitek X45 as a rudder controller for Ship Sim.
In fact, I only use the throttle control as a rudder control :
When you set the throttle control to 50%, it gives 0% rudder, 100% for full left rudder, and 0% for full right rudder. The throttle stays in position, so you can handle your rudder very accurately.
Moreover, the Saitek X45 throttle offers two wheels, that I use for aft and bow thrusters (on the sherpa).
For engine controls, I use a Saitek Throttle quadrant :
which give me the ability to handle right and left engines separately. This joystick configuration is really perfect for handling conventionnal ships (PoR, Vermaas, Sherpa ....), but is totally useless with azimuth propelled ships (Red Eagle, Bugsier, Ocean Star) ... That's why I now only use keyboard.
