Check out this site:http://www.angelfire.com/ma/ThomasAndrewLine/ (http://www.angelfire.com/ma/ThomasAndrewLine/)

This company, Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Lines, has a plan that I'm sure many of us would like to see completed:

In honor of the roughly 1,500 people who lost their lives on the RMS Titanic, TAT-AL hopes to build an almost exact replica of the great liner, which "will serve as a living Monument and Memorial to those who died." In order to make this ship as close to the real thing as possible, but still have today's technology, they will hide and disguise today's things into it, so as to make it look as similar to the real ship as possible. Examples from the site include:

Hiding the sonar equipment in the farthest foreward section of the bow
Hiding the radar equipment in the crows nest
Disguising the radio to look like the Marconni telegraph system

The maiden voyage is set for April 10, 2012, 100 years after the Titanic left Southampton
On April 15, 2012 at 2:00 AM, there will be a memorial service as the ship passes over where the Titanic sank.

After her maiden voyage, she will continue to run trans-Atlantic runs between Southampton and New York.

Every detail of the ship will be recreated. Imagine walking up the Grand Staircase! Exercise in the gym or swim in the pool!

The ship will have around 900 crew members, same as the real thing! Due to the lifeboat capacity, however, the ship will only have 900 passengers, too.

The ship will be a coal powered steamship, just like the original!

The estimated ticket prices are cheap! $1,000 for 3rd class, $2,000 for 2nd class, and $4,000 for 1st class.

The ship's name will be "Titanic" as the owner veiws naming it anything else would be disrespectful towards those who lost their lives.

From what I understand, though, even though they already have the launch day set and everything, they're a bit short on cash. Dont these sorts of companies get mony based on how many people visit their site? If that's the case, we can help these guys out!

This idea is amazing! I hope thet get the money needed and that H&W help them out! Best of luck, guys!

I had a similar dream, Third Mate!

Keep in mind: they are in a bit of a financial problem

What I do: Everytime I visit the site, I refresh once or twice, just to increase the hit count, so they get more money for more visits! Also, if it's close to a ten in terms of visit number, sometimes I'll refresh until it hits reach xxxxx0!

It turns out the organization hopes to be regestered as a company in may, which is also when they plan to go from the research phase to the planning phase!

Best of luck to those guys. This is better than sailing on the Ship Sim Titanic!

I hope the ship gets Royal Mail Steamer as a ship prefix! ;D

I emailed the guys, recommending this book:

"RMS Titanic: A Modelmaker's Manual" by Peter Davies-Garner

While I was at it, I wished them the best of luck in their work, and in trying to get people to ride on a trans-Atlantic ocean liner called "Titanic", lol

I just hope that they will actually do it. There have been many promises that we have all been given of a new olympic class liner to be built to bear the name of Titanic just like the counterpart. But all of them have failed and have failed misrabelly. I just hope that this one will actually be a successful plan this time or I will lose any hope or faith of people doing it and perhapes start thinking of the in's and outs to me trying my own hand at the very least to say. I do intend on being a success but I will watch this one very closley.

RMS Gigantic there is a set of plans from the TMRA site as well that you can also recomend. With you recomending that book I think you have some kudo's due to be picked up by you so go and get them.  :P

To be honest with you guys, i don't think that there will ever be a second Titanic, in my way of thinking it is actually disrespectful to the people who died on Titanic as its almost like trying to replace Titanic in that sence. I also think that this company dosen't care about a memorial etc. but money. As they say "money makes the world go round" if they ever do make another Titanic i'll have mixed feelings about it to be honest, and i think many other people will also have mixed feelings to, that is my opinion, although it would be nice to see it again.

Kind Regards
Jack.

I have noticed some of the details in the second site are actually different than what is stated above by RMS Gigantic, does that mean this is a new project?

It would be AWESOME. That they build the "TITANIC". But I don't think that it will happen.

We should see. I cannot wait to see her in full glorie.  ;D

Well I don't want to be negative but:

There is a company that want's to rebuilt the Titanic. They are not willing or able to register an own domain in the internet, but uses Angelfire.com, a free webhoster. The page is very basic, in my eyes.

The email contact is going to @yahoo.com
How well organized can this company be?
I think I don't want to book a ticket on their ship, even they were able to build it.

Actually, they aren't a company yet! The organization hopes to be registered as a company in May, when the research stage will end, and planning begins!

But remember: the organization isn't doing to well financially. I say we help 'em out by raising the hit count on that site!

Look on that site for the organization's name: Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line. I got some of my info there, but the rest is from their site!

Company or Organization, does that make really such big of a difference? My 14 year old son could make a better homepage then this one.
Let's get real people, how much trust can I put in an organization, that can't get the Internet portal in an appropriate state. They want get a ship built and can't get the simplest things well organized.
If you had to spend a million $ would you give it to a organization with this bad look? I wouldn't trust them as far as I can look.

That is a very bad site for starters, i have been studying webpage making etc. recently and as far as look, layout etc. this looks very cheap and it wouldn't suprise me in the least if this is some sort of scam to get money and run off with it.

Kind Regards

P.S. wouldn't you have though that this would have been global news headlines if this was actually true?

"Come together folks and let's build Titanic of planks and wood" :D :D

Yeah I know some takes this very serious but this was the must funniest topic of this month posted here ;) It should almost get it's own reward ;D

Because they're still only in the research stage. They plan on moving to the planning stage in May, when they hope to be registered as a company, that's why, Paddy134! They have the backing of the "Raise The Titanic Foundation," after they lost hope of floating the nearly century old ship.

As it turns out, 2008 would be much too early!

Construction on Titanic construction began on March 31st, 1909, with the hull launced on the same day 2 years later, and the outfitting completed one year later to the date. If these guys do the same schedule, construction won't start for another year!

I'm not saying its not true, but I'm a little skeptical. But if it is true, and they keep at this schedule, they may not launch for 5-6 years, considering the things that have to be done if she is going to be steam powered with coal. I'm not sure too many people would want the job as the coal loaders in the boiler rooms. And they may have to change the layout because if you were to sail 3rd class, you won't be to happy with your accomadations(no shower in the room, 4 small beds, tight quarters etc). I'm just offering my view is all, no need to take offense and anybody does take offense I apologize. It would just be tough to build the ship to the exact specifications as the original.

Kind Regards,

Dan

So's Google!

No Google isn't a bad site, its worth millions. You have been conned into actually believeing that they are going to make another Titanic, its never going to happen. I agree with Paddy on this one. No pictures, not on the news, bad site. Nope, wouldn't trust it in a million years.

I mean Google is just is, if not, MORE plain than this site! It was started as a sort of college experiment about search engines, though the team knew little on HTML!
