Amazing how a man gets after he hasn't had Marmite for two weeks..
Here's a soothing picture to erase it from your minds.. ;)

What on EARTH is martime?

I will, in my supreme state of Lord of the Marmite, accept that you ask that question out of ignorance, not malice.

The answer is out there...(cue spooky music)

Actually, its in several of the posts above. Happy searching...

Firestar,

Just sit down with a few marmite sandwiches, and nibble happily at them while you read all of the previous posts. All of the sum of human knowledge and experience is within them.

No but now that everyone in the US wants to a review on it I might have to find it and have some.

Terry I have a question, is it sticky? I can't eat anything sticky for another 2 months untill I get some stuff outa my mouth, luckily it worked and has fixed my speech and overbite though. :)

Ok it will have to wait a few months then. If I eat anything sticky it will pop my crowns off.

Put in the fridge and you have something with the texture of molten tar.

When my wife first came here from the USA, she put my Marmite in the fridge. It took me half an hour to get it out of the jar!

But, the thing to remember is that it is VERY strong flavoured. You spread the merest hint of it on your bread. So the stickiness is not relevant. It should be vapour thin.

Excuse me, off for a sandwich now.

PS you can get it in some places in the USA, but you'll have to hunt somewhat. There's a place in New Hope Pennsylvania (near to my wife's old haunts in NJ) that holds a couple of jars for me, and another in Florida that does the same and also one in Houston. (Can you tell the places I mainly stay at in the USA?). Just setting one up in Boston for my forthcoming trips.

I would say the shelf life is about a year
To give you an idea of the taste: if you like the occasional lick of Maggi, you will definately enjoy Marmite.. ;D
