hi, at the minute i am building a SeaCat in Sketchup... its my first build

, i have done a bit, i have only started this today, but i tried doing it last night but it wasnt to scale and that one hull was bigger than the other... pics are below..

Yeah that's pretty good. A ship like the Sea Cat is probably areally good place to start avtually because it has so few curves.

Actually, I don't think that's bad thus far.

I'm not a fan of sketchup models and find them usually poor. However, you have caputured the look of an Incat quite well. Whether it is scaled correctly, I don't know but it has the feel of being right.

yeah it is scaled correctly.. it took time though, as the first time went rather wrong... which isnt a bad thing because it was my first go at Sketchup

I honestly do think that's progressing very well. I know you say that it's to scale, but does APPEAR too long. But that could be an illusion.

I certainly think you have captured the feel (as I said before). And no, at its present standard (as you said yourself) Vstep isn't going to put it in the sim. But if you keep working at it, or when finished start on version 2. I think you could have a very popular boat.

at this minute my aim is to finish the ship to high quality and for it to be a model, not for Vstep to include it into the SS, but if it is popular enough then maybe, but thats not my aim.. Also you would need Sea Containers permission to include it into the game as the livery which i am applying to it would be the SeaCo livery. it does look a little too long, but thats the measurements i have got.. 74metre Incat catermaran..

There IS someone on the forum who was/is part of the coastguard authority and has plans of ships in the English Channel for use in SAR situations.

Anyone remember who it is?

I would just say that either the bridge is too large or the body too small, they look disproportional.

in the next update which is when the exterier is done, i hope it will look more proportional, but it looks like that because the back end isnt complete in that picture.

I really love the InCat 74m-type! I enjoyed some journeys on board the "SeaCat Danmark" several years ago, sailing between Denmark and Sweden.

ahh yeah, well the seacat IOM was sold to Sea Express being Sea Express 1, but it went back to the steam packet and this year had a collision on the mersey in liverpool, and is still on the mend at birkinhead in liverpool. I know this well because my Grandparents was onboard when it happened.

well there was 3 minor injuries, it happened because it was foggy. My Grandma is adament she doesnt ever go on such a small boat, because she doesnt feel safe on it
