Because the version avaliable is PAT, and we need NTSC....

Hello Humvee256,
Although not the greatest specialist of the question, I cannot fully agree with your opinion on the TV video system coding. You probably meant PAL vs NTSC, and I think most people no longer need a TV encoding to play a video game, at least in Europe. There must surely be a different answer to your question, probably a commercial one.

I can attest, as can many other members of this forum, that the game and add-on run just fine in the US -- provided one has sufficient computer horsepower.
Cheers,

Laptops will have a hard time running the game than most desktop platforms. It has happened to me as I have 2 laptops and 3 desktops.

Yes, and there are also laptops that can handle it. It would be interesting to know which type of integrated graphics card can handle the game. I suppose the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M is unable to do it, perhaps Humvee256 can play "guinea pig"? No, probably not.
Game specifications indeed never (?) touch the question of laptops. It is of course understandable since most of them share the memory of the motherboard.
But instead of "specifications" for laptops, the members of the forum who can play SS2006+Addon on their laptop could tell it to everybody. Perhaps a topic on that question?
So, the question of accountability of the publisher is avoided, on a subject where there is no global solution?
Just a thought, of course.

My laptop plays 2006 just fine, except I cannot play the Titanic without experiencing latency. It is okay inside of the bridge, but on the walk-around mode, it seems it is only doing 1 fps.

You found the answer: The game being heavier with the addon, the framerate will decrease. If you have no desktop, you would probably be disappointed.
Perhaps will ShipSim2008 be able to control the graphics so as to solve these difficulties with the laptops?

I can play SS2006 OK on my laptop (a Dell Latitude D610) at the highhest resolution (1450 x something) but I do have the Titanic masts/funnels problem.  The laptop will not run the addon, however; for that I need the big box which has an AMD 1.47 GHz, and a Nvidia Quadro4 750XGL card.

Things might be better at a lower resolution, but I'm not too interested in trying that.

Cheers,
Michael
