Following the new tendency on forum, supported by the fact there are possibly many train fanatics here or just people who don't hesitate playing various train simulators, along with another fact that I was a kinda train fanatic myself when I was a little snotty kid, let's post your train pics on here!

Here are some of mine, caught from the same spot at 08:30 traditionally:

Modest railbus RA1

The shiny and cheerful diesel multiple unit DR1A

The electric multiple unit ER2K providing service between the administrative center & coastal resort towns

i don't have any pictures, but theres an excursion train that i see often on my bike route down to the shipping canal. its quite random: a soo line or missabe northern diesel locomotive, a burlington northern snack car, a burlington northern first-class car, a northern-pacific first-class car, a duluth-missabe and iron range car (very old and historic; its the same car from the movie "iron will"), a domino's pizza dinner car, and a union pacific double-story car.

amazing train. sometimes its pulled by a DM&IR steam locomotive.

other times, its just an electric passenger car with authentic aluminum exterior paneling and control areas front and aft.

Class 185 (First TransPennine Express)

York - Peterorough
Class 91 (East Coast)

Peterborough-Ipswich
Class 170 (National Express east anglia)

Ipswich - Mannigtree

*OK technically a 171, but only cause they changed the connector

I'm not sure, but it looks like first capital connect service to me...

Yes, Stu .... you can say that. It about people going to (or coming from) a religious meet in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh

Sorry vin sun. worst capital connect is a London based rail operator widely derided for being 'less than perfect.' I was mocking them as they are quite frankly, appaling.

This however looks far worse. How far do they travel like that? It doesn't look particularly, ahem safe and comfortable.

In the Third World countries of the sub-continent such things do happen. Yes, it is certainly not safe and deaths do occur. These are all the disadvantages the populous countries in Asia have. It may sound absolutely unconcerned and downright rude but we have a saying - the cheapest commodity in such countries is human life !!! Medical aid for the injured (in cases as in the photos) may be greatly delayed or never come !! Governments do try their best and create an awareness but it's all blown to the wind by the uneducated as for him he has to somehow reach Point B from Point A whatever the risk may be !! This train would have possibly stared as an overcrowded one in a city and would have picked up more people from villages and towns along the route to the capital ....... a distance of about 25 ~ 30 Kms.

It's not just the men ....... women too !!

The only way to the roof !!

This happens to have occurred for the purpose of attending a religious meet in the capital city. Religious sentiments are very high in under developed countries in Asia and they would do anything to be there. The Railways there may be pressing extra trains into service but even then the mass of the population is simply beyond control to cater to the crowds.

In Bombay the so called "local" train service operates to ferry people from the distant suburbs to the city center where all the offices are. It covers a distance of about 40 Kms and transports 7 million (yes, seven) in a SINGLE DAY. In the peak hours (8 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 9 PM) a train departs from the major terminus every 3 minutes !! It is said, that if these "local" trains were put into service in New Zealand, the entire population could be evacuated in 24 hours !!! Below is a picture of one of these trains rolling into a station. Don't miss the guy talking on his cell phone.

Is it just for religious ceremonies though they get this busy? because all pictures of Indian Trains are similar with the extra "layer" of passengers on the outside

(there was a episode of The Simpsons which featured a similar train)

Maybe Indian Train operators should consider double deck coaches... can;t be issues with height restrictions...

May be about 1% on a day like that !!

No wonder such Railways have enormous losses !! But on "local" trains of Bombay, most of the "regulars" have a pre paid pass and the others do buy a ticket. Checks do occur at stations and the ticket-less passengers are fined.

my end-of-school party was in a double-decker rail car. we went from the depot in Duluth all the way up to Two Harbors.

we had a blast. me and my girlfriend drove the train on the way back.

Just out of question, how did the driver manage to see were he was going on that indian train picture? As far as i can see theres a guy hanging on for dear life right infront of his window!
As a note, did you guys now that the class 142 DMU was built out of leyland routemaster bus parts? learn something new everyday!

You mean the train in Bangladesh (it's a neighbor of India) ...... beats me too ..... maybe the guys in front of the window were guiding him !!!
