I'm surprised at your lack of foresight there, Mr TFM.
600,000 extra visitors to Britain- probably spending £200-£2000 each whilst here.
Not only the extra visitors today, but 2bn people will be seeing Britain doing what it does best- traditional ceremonies etc... Bit different to the usual anti-British news. How much good will this do for our image abroad for years to come?
The costs? You mean the costs paid by the Windsors and Middletons themselves? GB only paying for security... 45% of security costs (Police overtime) going back as PAYE/NIC tax. The rest, well coppers have more money to spend which they will spend in shops.
I keep seeing this "oooh too expensive" remark- and it's normally by those who are against the cuts on the ground that the state will kick start the economy. The argument is self defeating. ANd anyone who wants to argue the economic point had better do a little research first.
