Older ships did, and some Cruise ships, but I think regulations are kind of against wooden decks :/

They have a metal deck and I think in fact are moving to a kind of rubbery sticky deck

Looking good.

Wooden decks are disappearing more due to cost issues than regulations.  They do look good, but they are expensive to fit, they take a lot of maintenance and the steel deck below them is prone to corrosion.

I think what you are talking about with the rubbery deck is an epoxy resin coating, these are available in various colours, they go on really thick like a resin rather than paint so they don't need to be replaced for years, they cut down on the cost of paint and on time spent on maintenance, they are probably cheaper over the long term than painting, but as they are initially quite expensive most shipping comapnies take the usual short sighted view of not having enough cash in the build budget to pay for it.

Hmmmm, not sure.  We used to use a non slip coating on ramps etc, but to be honest it was rubbish and expensive; and we generally ended up welding chevrons to the deck when it fell off.

And the funnel pipes look great!

The rust texture was supposed to be where the anchor rubs up and down

Backfaces, ya-know, the other side of the polygon that sketchup renders but games don't. In sketchup pink normally means theres a backface, and that boat of yours seems to have more pink than A teen Spambot room!

A ferry would normally have either 4 main engines, 2 diesel generators and at least one (occasionally 2) boilers, or 2 main engines, 3 or 4 diesel generators and boilers, as well as an incinerator so yes the pipes would all be different sizes.

Update: the beta-class (Mk 2) texture is near complete - just got to make some nice looking door textures...  :doh:

(Mk 1 was the original red hull)

You know how I love to have as many moving parts as possible in the water, my ideal ship would be a single, fixed pitch, propeller, a single, non flap type rudder (situated in the correct place at the blunt end), no stabilisers, no thrusters and a 15 year anti-fouling paint coating.  I might stretch to allowing bilge keels, but that would be it!

Oh right, the museum has 2 CP propellers, 2 rudders, 2 thrusters and 2 stabilisers, all of which are 30 years old and rattle a bit, it's almost like a recipe for having to dry dock the bloody thing every 5 minutes.
