So here she is as she currently stands...

Whilst awaiting Answers to the Most Important Questions in the World... (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,21919.msg329905.html#msg329905)

I was attempting "research"...

Basically trying out fonts...

Looking good, hope you're gonna put in your standing orders that the bow rudder is never to be used, ever!

In fact best weld the damn thing up, just to be on the safe side!

Is there even a bow rudder?
Havent seen it in the last few pics  ;D

I think you need to explain to Clanky that such rudder types have existed in the past..
And still some ferries use it today

Yeah, could you explain about bow rudders to me please TFM :P

The problem is that they are designed to work when the ship is going astern, when the ship is going ahead it only takes a little bit of play in the rudder bearing to generate quite large forces on the rudder, which in turn damages the bearing, which in turn generates larger forces, which in.....

OK, you get the idea, the bloody thing will fall off!

Not sure about those 2, didn't even know they had them.

To be honest, if they are maintained properly then in reality they shouldn't give too many problems, I just like ships to have as few things as possible which require a dry-dock to fix!

Ahh

Yes, they have them - the last of the Dover ferries in fact to be fitted with them

Two of the reasons I fitted Channel Queen with one was so:

a) I could replicate the astern journey the PoD/C do when swinging - they swing OUTSIDE Calais harbour
b) Make it so its not just a repackaged PoR - it is different...

Do you mean Becker rudders?  Again an overcomplicated piece of nonsense which is just something else to go wrong and require the ship to be dry docked for repair.  They definitely make the ship more manoeuvrable, but try to imagine the kind of force on the flap when the ship is moving astern and you will see why i hate the damned things.

Rather than making it easier for the bus drivers they should just train them better! :P

I like the fact that the Channel Queen is a mix of all existing ferries. The stern of the Maersk D's, the bow of the Pride of Canterbury/Kent, the funnel of the Rodin/Berlioz and the Pride of Dover/Calais' bow rudder.

Thanks :)

OK have designed a possible logo now. What do you guys think?

Apologies that the close up is blurry - not sure quite why that happened (might be because I shrunk the logo a bit from the base one)
