which game area hope you in the future once more in shipsim measure to make?

I think he means to say - Which areas (harbors) would you like to see added to Ship Simulator in the future?[/b]

This topic has been discussed many, many times . . .  I will let this posting slide this time since the previous post was not brought over to the new forum. However - PLEASE research a topic before creating a new one. You may find the topic has been posted before.

What I really would like to see/play (or rather sail) is the route between Narvik (in northern Norway) and Rotterdam with Berge Stahl. The town of Narvik was built mainly for the shipping of swedish(!) ore, and a lot of  it ends up in Rotterdam.

Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of distance are we looking at?

Yer that seems quite a distance and will take alot of time.

I on the other hand think it might be a good idea for a Belfast to Scotland route which is served by the HSC Stana Voyager as it will take about 2 hours and will be very fun as the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean can be quite hard to do in a storm!! ;D

From Narvik to Rotterdam? A looong distance :)

But as I understand this, there will be missions in SS2008 that includes crossing oceans? If so, this "little" route would be a piece of cake, except for the possibility of heavy storms, fog, other ships, shallows, etc...

The route includes areas such as Vestfjorden (between Lofoten and the main land), and is known for hard storms in the winter time. And of course you have to cross at least two other areas also famous for it's hard weather: Stadtlandet (that's where you turn from southwest to south along the coast of Norway) and The Northern Sea.

BTW: Stadtlandet  also includes areas of shallows which contains a lot of shipwrecks.

All in all, a challenge to travel with sucess :)

Anything on the English Channel would be fine by me

e.g. Dover to Calais or Portsmouth to Cherburg/St Malo/Caen etc. VStep should bring out add on packs offering certain routes ans ships eg Western Channel V1.1 which would include scenery areas such as Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth and Le Harve, Cherburg and St Malo etc and also the ships you would find on these routes

That would be wicked!

Hey, hey, hey! I am wondering about canals!? Are there going to be any? If there are, I request the Great Lakes canal and Panama canal. I also hope to see the Golden Gate bridge in the game, so put in San Fransisco if you may.

I'm back, and I still ain't dead!

Like some-one above purposed, add-on packs of certain areas would be great, including the vessels that are common for that area. I myself as an inland-skipper would like to see a bit more inland-canals and -rivers as well. Like Marc said, the Westerschelde would be very nice to have, because you can sail it with allmost any ship, because they're all common there!

On-topic: I would like to see the Unter-Weser, from outside Bremerhaven, including Wilhemshaven, all the way to Bremen! That would be a massive area, with 3 fairly big harbours and loads of possibillitys!

Hi,

I would agree with the Dover-Calais section of the Dover Straits... It is the busiest shipping channel after all. Could provide a lot of challenges getting past all the tanker/ cargo ships running across the straits.

This sounds like an interesting idea.

I have two questions:

1. At what speeds does it take two hours?

2. Will the game engine hold out? It often cuts out on me if I game close to 2 hours.

I hate the current game engine.

True, but it would need to be disabled in online play, otherwise it would influence other gamers environment, unless you programmed each gamer can set their own time rate - however, that means players who accelerate time can just "warp" away. I am not too into that.
