eyrebrush, Nice photo of HMS "Ark Royal" at the new cruise liner terminal. I have one very similar, also "Queen Elizabeth 2" on the new berth. Like you, as a Liverpudlian born and bred and having sailed for many years with a famous old LIverpool Company, I would very much like to see my home port in the simulator. It could be arranged that it was a high spring tide and all the lock gates were open to avoid the problem of locking in and out of the docks. Oh, by the way, it has been suggested before by a number of us Scousers.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. Port Of Hull, so we can do the realistic route with Pride of Rotterdam.

Like I said before on another post, I would like to see a couple of Canadian ports.  It makes me mad often that Vstep didn't add any Canadian ports to SS08.  Aren't they forgetting about us Canadians?  I mean, there are ports on SS08 in the United States but none of their northern country, Canada.

I join TTE in asking for Canadian ports. There is no excuse for overlooking Churchill.
The main environments for BC Ferries would be a good place to begin.

Very simply, not in any numerical order, these areas/harbours:

1. Area of Puget Sound, bounded by harbours of Vancouver, BC - Victoria, BC - Seattle/Tacoma, USA.
2. The Aegean Sea area, bounded by harbours of Piraeus, Greece - Crete - Izmir, Turkey.
3. The Ariatic Sea area, bounded by harbours of Trieste, Italy - Split or Dubrovnik in the Balkans - Taranto, Italy.
4. The south coast of Japan, from Tokyo/Yokohama to Nagoya.
5. The Strait of Malacca, from Singapore to Kelang, Malaysia
6. The Seto Aikai Sea, from Beppu on Kyushu Island to Osaka, but including all of Shikoku Island so you have a choice of an inside or an outside route.
7. Hong Kong Harbour, with islands.
8. Sydney or Melbourne Harbours.
9. both New Zealand Islands.
10. Casablanca, Morocco to Algiers, Algeria - including the Rock of Gibraltar and Cadiz, Spain.
11. Any of the islands in the Caribbean Sea.
12. Perhaps Rio de Janiero. Some South American ports.

That's all I want. Later, I may want more....  ;D

Update: CANADA! Don't forget our friends Bob and Doug!

I thought about Cape Town.  There's a problem: what other great harbour can serve as a destination? Durban is too far away I think, and Dar-es-Salaam is REALLY too far.

I would really like to see the port of Miami. That is a great ferry passage way and and ideal cruise ship port ;). It also collects cargo from ships. But it is mainly a cruise ship terminal.

Gulf of Finland. Helsinki and Tallinn. Trip takes only 2 hours between these two capitals by fast ferry (Tallink Star/Superstar/Viking XPRS).

How about the St. Lawrence Seaway from the 1000 islands region of northern New York State to Montreal, Canada? It's approx. 1-4 miles wide (varies) and 187 miles long. It provides the opportunity to introduce locks and power generation dams to Ship Sim. It is also is a very challenging area to navigate as it has many navigation obstacles as well as high recreational traffic.

The Port of Vancouver Canada is the largest port in Canada and I believe the second largest on the west coast of North America. The Port of Vancouver includes the area in and around . . . the Strait of Georgia, Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River. If the map were to be enlarged the area could also include the nearby Gulf Islands Archipelago and Vancouver Island as well as the San Jaun Archipelago and Puget Sound to the south in the United States. The Port of Vancouver receives tankers, cargo ships, freighters and cruise ships from all around the world and is also a major hub for Seaspan and BC Ferries.

     Hi all,

I’d Love to see Piraeus, Santorini (Thira) (though small), Istanbul and Alexandria – or even Port Said.

There are of course hundreds of others – but most of those I’d name would be in the Aegean and I suppose too small to be of interest to VSTEP or perhaps other users of SS …

It would be Wonderful to have Very Large ‘mid-Atlantic’ and ‘Mediterranean’ water ‘environments’ however – and great to see Gibraltar & be able to pass through the straights to have a transit-point between the Med and the Atlantic.

  Best regards,
  Chrystine

Istanbul would indeed be a good one to have. A most intersting and challenging harbour.

Perhaps this one might make it into Ship Simulator 2010.  ;)

Some fantastic scenery there as well.
Could make it a fun, interesting and enjoyable challenge for those who do the ‘scenery design’ work!

(As would Venice, or even Malta).  :)

  :)
