Hello,

Jocce mentioned the Panama Canal , now this would be very interesting , its 51 miles long and if i'm right and everything goes to plan! it takes 10 or so hours to transit though , now would'nt that be great! ;D even if its not going to be in any new sim could it not be made as an addon for SS 2008 in the future, i for one would pay for it,

        Just my two pennies!

        Cheers,

        Roger.

Which areas (harbours) would you like to see added to Ship Simulator in the future?

i really like to see the harbour of singapore and a little piece of the rhine in germany.
and what i also want to see is more tugs like the smit rotterdam and more pushboats like the veerhaven X or VII
i'am a sailor on the veerhaven VII. so that would be awesome.
but this game is great, this is the best game ever made.

Valencia. It’s a Beautiful city. There are modern and singular buildings “Cuidad de las Artes y las ciencias” There is the America´s Cup Port. There are accurate (LIDAR) digital terrain models of the city and vicinities. The offshore has heavy traffic between Gibraltar Strait and North African Cities and Barcelona, Marseille, Palma

As Valecia´s Port Authorities says:

Valencia port is the first and last stopover port for the major deep sea maritime services using regular lines in the Western Mediterranean, which provides the following advantages:

The closest trading port to the Suez-Gibraltar axis, route of the main deep sea shipping lines.
Superior facilities for the concentration and distribution of traffic in the Western Mediterranean.
In addition, our enviable position on the Iberian Peninsula makes us a natural port for deep sea goods traffic, by providing: Shorter land transport times. Extensive possibilities for the redistribution of goods originating on or destined for the Peninsula.

What about all the main harbors in Hawaii (Honolulu,O'ahu; Nawiliwili, Kauai; Kahului, Maui; Kawaihae and Hilo, Hawaii (Big Island);Kaumalapau, Lanai; Kaunakakai, Molokai; Pearl Harbor, O'ahu)?  Hawaii is connected mainly by sea and requires shipping for almost all goods.  Ships bring in goods from the mainland and they are later transported intrastate via tug and barge.  How about a working tow winch (heave in/pay out) on a line haul tug too??  Just some thoughts about the area that I live/work in....

Boston, absolutely!  From the LNB at least up into the Charles, Mystic, and Fore Rivers.  Be sure to include the 10' tides.

Also need some river/canal locales, e.g., St. Lawrence, inter-Great Lake, or Mississippi (New Orleans).

Hello! I'm the one - a little while back - who advocated Liverpool and all the plentiful environs of the river Mersey, with it's approaches from the Irish sea, its amenities for all kinds of vessels, ferries across the river - and further afield across the Irish sea to the Isle of Mann and Ireland, Cruise ships, cargo vessels, tankers, fishing boats, tugs and barges, pilot and rescue vessels as well as pleasure craft. There could be many extensions to all the docks there on both sides of the river - not to mention the Manchester ship canal with it's oil refinery terminals etc.

Of course, I'm biased, LOL, having been brought up here and lived here all my life! However, having just spent nearly two hours wading through all 23 pages of suggestions so far, I realise that all have their own merits. Of course, I WOULD like to see more environments - and vessels - on offer, as we all do. One can grow stale and bored with the same things all the time, most particularly with the environments with their limited number of starting points. What I would REALLY recommend to VStep is to incorporate into all future - and existing environs the CHOICE of having CONTINUALLY VARYING weather conditions - both on free sailing and on missions. This, I think (certainly for me) would greatly extend a more lasting enthusiasm for their ship simulation. It would be much more of a challenge, and of much more interest if one could start a sailing with conditions that are given at random - and with conditions that change, gradually, at random! This would include SAVED missions!

I would love to see Portland Oregon and the Columbia river locks. The start is at the Pacific ocean and goes all the way to the Snake river. It would really be great to traverse all the locks, and it is a very scenic area to boot. Allot of heavy ship traffic.

Hello Mates,

i would like to see more of the Elbe, maybe till cuxhaven. Or the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal.

And of course - for the friends of big ferries! The Trave. Lübeck is one of the biggest ferry ports in the baltic. The Trave features challengeging corners, many possebilities for docking and a beautiful historic part of the city of Lübeck, built on an island!.

What do you think about it guys?

Best Regards - Eike
