Don't...

Its a laugh

I have been abroad where the front of the trains have been covered in ice and snow, and they still run fine.

Here, one small spot of snow, everything shuts down, its a great disaster, and everyone will die*...

*OK, maybe a bit overdramatic, but that's the newspapers/tv for you...

Our old tain runs most of the time, not so much the new once. 1 mm of snow and they pretty much derail or need service. How hard can it be to make a train that can handle a little bit of snow?

Oh and who in their right mind order's a train that's not capable of running in snow when it's to be delivered to Sweden, of the same latitude of Alaska and north Canada!

And then they can't clear the lines because they forgot to pay someone to clear them! Then the ATC fails when the plates are covered in snow, and no one clears the train switches, so they cant switch the tracks from the commandcentral!

It's a joke!

Snow keeps coming our way. Expatation for the next few days: "heavy snowfall, sleet, fog, rain and temperatures about - 6 degrees C on mid day"
The snow on the pictuires is about 7 inch (20 cm) high. Except on sloping surfaces.

Any plowing in that area or little bit unusual with that amount of snow?

Snowing here now and been snowing the last 4 days now on and off. Temp mid day today was -16 c

The new snowdepth chart of the 20th shows slightly deeper snow :)

PS. If you're used to Inch, there's 2.54 cm on one inch. And a tip on temps. If you search google such as this "-5 c to f" you will get the temp of -5 c to f printed up top of the search resuslts. Works the other way around aswell :)

EDIT: put a picture of what it looks like on google :)

Yep I love it, alot more like the winters was when I was a kid, well there's more this year but the last 15-20 years have been really bad in terms of snow, with no snow on christmas around here. The two last years have been awsome especially this year :)

I totally agree  ;D
Since I'm only 18 I've only heard of the winters that my parents had when they where kids... And since I love snow, I'm always wanted it to be a real winter with lots of snow so now I'm happy  ;D

That would be a bit annoying but kinda awsome too! ;)

I know there's been over 4 meters mesured in the "halfy" north.

SMHI had to do mesurments after more ten 5 meters of reported snow, which they belived to be false, so they took shovels and started digging. They gave up after 4 meters and decided it was probebly very likley to be correct. :D (don't have the story on print anymore :(

There is are a lot of theories popping up at YouTube around this..ehm..extreme weather.
I found this one very accurate, in fact its maybe one of the good ones out there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_P-kUrTuj8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_P-kUrTuj8)

Last night, here where I live, the east part of Norway in one of the greatest valleys you find in this country, we had at Christmas Eve minus 26 degrees Celsius, and you could sense the cold fresh air from the doors even when they where closed. Around the main door handle, there is a tick layer of frost...  When you run outside here where I live, it looks like winter wonderland, typical Norwegian postcard-winter.

And now we are currently reading in mass media about a chaotic weather situation in Denmark. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12066894 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12066894)

It is with no doubt something going on here.. something is about to freak out! ;)

Where in norway was it -40?

How low was it when the water froze? Have never experienced that low here, it's been around -30 here as the lowest but the water didn't freeze.

Lovley dog! Also you don't happen to know if the right machine on the 3rd photo is a Huddig?
