what is wrong with forums moderator

If someone ask any question regarding the patch or add-on ships the mods close it.
The mods are very good on closing topics.

Hiya :)

This is done for a very good reason :)

Multiple posts regarding the same issue can cause confusion for members, it's always better to have the information in one place, wouldn't you agree?

That's why we close topics and why we suggest using Search :)

Regards.

The same in the German forum....it´s terrible having three or more post´s with "Patch" as topic. To close the double Topic´s is the right way! And here are some "children" how did not first search for their questions before opening a new topic!

As an extra point:

For anyone who feels that they have been treated unfairly, or their topic was locked without good reason, there is a function available to all members.

The Report To Moderator button is available on every post, if you feel you need to use it, any report will be checked and investigated :)

But yes we have a patch thread that has 18 pages and is active yet people make a small one that no one is going to read. I think the moderators (W00T DJM) do what needs to be done. I do this on my forum also.

If I can add to this, the whole team is actively involved in doing what needs to be done, wouldn't you all agree?

We all play an essential part in making the community a pleasant place to be :)

That is true. There testing our game to get the bugs out and then get it released faster then if just the VSTEP staff had to try and find them. They probably find more because they use EVERYTHING because there people just like us that are super special.

Haha so true. He is almost a celebrity.
They don't have shirts do they...

Hey, I wear a ShipSim-Shirt! Looks pretty good.  ;D

Well, I can appreciate Halmex problem. I think there are a few more or less passive members in our community with just one or two posts/questions. I know about the search function of course, but if you just have one question and you are not willing to search all the suitable topics, why not asking the one? Somebody may answer and that`s it. If we are posting about T-Shirts or the thousand-and-ones special tug it should be no problem to serve redundant questions too.

Cheers

But surely you can see their reasons for doing this? I sure can. :) Not to mention similar and unnessecary topics etc. taking up bandwidth. On LTL (www.larger-than-life.org) and AO (www.armageddononline.org/forums) (I'm Skynet12 on these)we had to delete and lock loads of threads due to memory and system probs. I logged in every day just waiting to fire up my 'lock thread' button! Not to mention the bore and aggrevation of certain repeated topics for members and mods alike   ???. Hell I lost over 700 posts due to having to 'clear' out old threads on ao.

Thanks... captain_Adam! :)

I take that as a compliment... ;)

The moderators are here to keep things tidy and see to that discussions take place in a proper tone. If we didn't close double posted questions, the forum will easily become messy and it will be impossible to keep track of any information. Most of the questions regarding the patch or add-on ships have already been raised and answered before. If you take a look at the closed topics you'll see that in most cases, we include a link to a post where the question is already answered.

Regards
